2001 - "Buckethead illness" - European Tour (June, December) cancelled, Album delayed
2002 - US tour cancelled by ClearChannel
2004 - "Buckethead's departure" - Tour cancelled, Album delayed)
2005 - "The album is coming" - The Very Best of Guns N' Roses was cancelled due to the album coming soon.
2006 - "Finishing Chinese Democracy" - US tour dates cancelled (October and again December, January)
2007 - "Tommy breaks his hand" - Africa dates cancelled

There was also the Woodstock thing in 99 but I don't remember the excuse...or if it was more rumor than anything.

More like "Cancelled due to reunion going tits up. Gotta save Shadow of Your Love as a reunion single."

The Guns n' Roses: In Their Own Words book has a hilarious/depressing section dedicated to all of the UYI delay excuses.

Sadly, it seems to be a defining trait of this band.

2001 and 2002.

The 2001 tour had been booked by Goldstein without Axl’s go-ahead, I guess.

The 2002 tour had supposedly been booked by the record company to make money. Axl wasn’t happy because he wanted to finish the album instead of touring.

I mean who knows what would’ve happened but it could’ve either:

(1) Moved forward the timetable on the collapse of New GNR
(2) Catapulted them to fame. Imagine if they play a couple good songs, Axl is in shape vs bloated like in Rio. It could’ve created mystique. “Well one thing about Woodstock 99 that was actually promising was...”

I don't think Axl is the right dude to headline a riot, though. That crowd was awful, I mean, really really really awful and violent and stupid, and there's no doubt Axl would've flipped out. And probably would've been blamed for the riot.

Yeah, you’re probably right.

Or, they could’ve found Axl in his 2001 mood where he was gracious and grateful and did a good job managing it. He could’ve rehabilitated his image.

I guess I always hope for the best for the guy. We’ve all got that soft spot still.
