Re: Classic Rock - And the new Velvet Revolver frontman is…
Well, I don't really watch the show, but my wife thinks he's similar to Daughtry. My wife hates VR (mostly because she can't stand Scott's voice on the songs). If somebody like that guy can bring new listeners to VR (like my wife), it can't hurt as long as it doesn't come off really cheesy to the current fans.

yeah all the chicks like this David cook guy...they are really playing him up on there....did you know hes having problems at home now too? some one is sick or something? and its causing his high blood pressure to act up but hes still battling through it all and performing well so ya know how it goes on TV i think AI figures they need a rocker to win this time or something
dont get me wrong hes alright but daughtry is a much better singer than this new guy IMO i woudnt mind daughtry singing for VR actually hes pretty good
Re: Classic Rock - And the new Velvet Revolver frontman is…
I know this probably isn't a popular choice but I'd love to see Ginger write and perform with Velvet Revolver. He's extremely prolific and very musical. Plus writes some awesome riffs. If anyone has heard the Wildhearts B-Side song 'fired up' you'd swear it was Slash playing the outro.
I'm with you. He'd be perfect as he is a great prolific songwriter and decent frontman so they could be putting out an album every year with this guy as a singer. He is also pretty unknown in North America but big abroad which could really add to the international appeal without being too much of a supergroup type project in NA. The only concern is that he is a bit of a headcase and has his own list of personal demons so he might not be a long term solution.
Honestly, guys check out some of his material with The Wildhearts or Silver Ginger 5, it is awesome. His solo work is pretty good as well but a little more laid back.

Phew at least someone is with me! I think Ginger is over most of his 'personal demons', he seems at pease with himself. Currently to be found doing a weekly solo spot in a bar in New York. Oh yes and also releasing a cover album with the Wildhearts. After another solo album. As you said VR wouldn't have a shortage of ideas and melodies to work with.
Maybe Ginger could produce VR's album, even if he doesn't sing.

I still think someone like John Corabi would be really cool. He's not that well-known, but has been in the industry as long as the rest of them have, so there'd be no clash of egos.
And I still think he helped produce one of Motley Crue's best albums, even if the general public didn't think so.
Check out this Motley song from that album: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MY33fw2XCE
He has a cool, low raspy blues voice, and could probably sing Scott's style as well as adding his own touch.

I bought the dvd that that youtube video is from specifically so I could see the 3 videos they made with Corabi that I didn't know existed.
I wouldn't see them going with Corabi just because he came across as kind of the "loser" (for complete lack of a better word) in the Motley Crue situation.
I'd love to see it, but I don't think it'll happen. (which seems to be a theme with the people who I'd like to see get this job now that I think about it)
