GUNS N' ROSES: 'Chinese Democracy' Streamed Nearly Two Million Times Today - Nov. 20, 2008
The new GUNS N' ROSES' album, "Chinese Democracy", has been streamed nearly two million times on the band's official MySpace page since it was first uploaded early this morning (Thursday, November 20). The stream will be available until the LP is released on Sunday, November 23.
Unless its a few crazy fans that is pretty damn good news.

I just listened to the first three tracks then caught myself and shut it down. I want to listen to it Sunday after I get it; still haven't heard the 3 unleaked.

Yeah man I've had friends who have shown no interest before asking me when it's coming out. Guys who liked old Gn'R but didn't give a shit about the wait but now that it's happening they wanna know when. This album might sell huge right of the bat.

Not to be a party pooper, but Tom(head honcho of myspace) had this on his profile, bulletin, and site update. Had he done that with a Bill Cosby fart, it would have received an almost identical statistic.
The hope in that statistic is that a decent percentage of those actually go out and buy it. The latest Pussycat Dolls album also received the same Myspace treatment.
I'm glad they did this though. The album needs as much 21st century marketing as it can get.

I didn't see anything from Tom about it. I went straight to the GNR site, like many probably will. Hell, I don't even go to my own page anymore, I just google the band and link to their site that way.

It was on there when I logged in to the Evo page last night.
Myspace Music received a huge overhaul earlier this year. Artists are now offering their entire discography on the site, which is a good thing. Artists need to embrace the current culture we live in.

The thread is a little misleading. At the most, only 170K actually listened to every single song. Most had no more than 225K listens. CD got 800K+ by being the song that plays automatically when people go to the page, no other song has more than 500K and only 4 songs had more than 300K. It's a pretty good indication that people were curious enough to want to listen and weren't impressed enough by what they heard to keep listening.
