Re: Loaded Music Video for Flatline
DUFF MCKAGAN'S LOADED spent the last few days in Los Angeles filming a video for the song "Flatline". The band says, "We can't wait for you all to check it out!"
Following the arrival of the band's 2008 "Wasted Heart" EP, DUFF MCKAGAN'S LOADED will release "Sick" on April 7 via Century Media Records. This marks the first full-length studio album in eight years from the band the former GUNS N' ROSES and current VELVET REVOLVER bassist formed in 1998 and grouped up with again in 2001. This is an all-out assault of pure rock and punk-infused fury that pulls no punches. LOADED encompasses what rock 'n' roll should be all about, creating memorable songs with infectious hooks.
The album's first single, "Flatline", is now streaming at Playboy.com (where Duff also pens the weekly "Duffonomics" financial column). In addition to his new blog on Playboy.com — where McKagan says he hopes to "shed some no-nonsense light on day-to-day money issues" — Duff has penned a two-page "Success" column in the new March issue of Playboy magazine. He also continues to contribute his "Reverb" column to the Seattle Weekly.
LOADED isn't a band merely to fill in time, to allow the famed bassist to massage a hyper publicity drive. This is all about…music.

BW&BK Exclusive: DUFF MCKAGAN'S LOADED Invade Bingo Hall
Posted on Thursday, February 26, 2009 at 17:37:05 EST
Earlier this week, DUFF MCKAGAN'S LOADED wrapped filming on their video for the song 'Flatline', from their forthcoming album 'Sick', due in stores on March 30th (Europe) and April 7th (USA) via Century Media.
'Flatline' is actually the second video Loaded has filmed, as last year they issued a clip for 'No More', a song that initially appeared on the limited edition Wasted Heart EP. That tune is also featured on Sick.
Vocalist/guitarist Duff McKagan (ex-GUNS N' ROSES, VELVET REVOLVER) spoke exclusively to BW&BK scribe Aaron Small and provided the following update:
“We have a sense of humour and we don’t take ourselves too seriously. The fucking killer thing about Loaded is, we made a record for under $20,000 – mastered and mixed. You record on the same shit. There’s no Town Cars picking you up. There’s no catering everyday. You get a trail mix and water; tap water at that. But it’s still the same record, the same passion and the same equipment.
We made that ‘No More’ video for $2500, not $200,000. It’s the same cameras. But for the 'Flatline' video, we actually had a budget of $7500, a ton of money for Loaded making a video. So all these directors started sending us treatments. They all had a love interest in it or a strip club – some bullshit. They were all so on the nose of what the song was. Really? That’s the best you’ve got there? So we had an idea and that’s what we used.
Our idea was: we’re getting ready for a rock show. We’re backstage and we’re really serious, putting our fucking eyeliner and wristbands on. Geoff (Reading, drummer) is taping up his fingers, playing his sticks on the countertop. Mike (Squires) is playing guitar. We’re stretching out. Then we’re walking down the hall – in slow motion of course. It’s like we’re playing Madison Square Gardens. We go out and boom! We’re in a bingo hall with all these old fuckers playing bingo. We go in and we start fucking with these guys. We actually are running a con ‘cause we want to win bingo. All these really creepy old dudes, I don’t know where they found these guys, find out we’re cheating and they beat the shit out of us! That’s the denouement of the song. Then in slow motion, we’re walking back to our dressing room, taking off our shirts, all sweaty. It’s like, good gig. So it’s just a piss take on ourselves really.”
