I went through a period of absolutely destroying GNR and Axl on this board. Some of you may remember me losing it. That was my turning point. Now it all just rolls off my back. I can't get so wrapped up in it anymore. I got CD. I won. I waited for it and got it. Anything else is bonus. I couldn't really give two shits anymore. Everyone, Slash included, retain about zero respect in my eyes from the original lineup. They all fucked up in one way or another.

Forced to how?

You can't tell me that everything to do with this whole circus isn't disappointing.

As buzz is saying, I LOVE cd.... I really do. I listen to it constantly and I encourage people I know to buy it. But how else am I supposed to support this thing?

James has been harping on one point for years that no one seems to want to acknowledge; only GNR.

Albums have years or mystery things in the way of being released; only GNR
Albums come out with out any promotion; only GNR
No performances whatsoever can be lined up; only GNR
A guitarist who hasn't been around in almost 2 decades gets in the way of everything; only GNR
Albums that took forever and a day to complete STILL have issues with the booklet and quality control issues; only GNR
Revolving door of "it musicians" (at the time); only GNR

I could go on, but I think you get the point. One could argue "well, you chose to be GNR fan, so who's forcing you?" and my reply to that is; I'm a fan of good music and great performance. GNR has and continues to produce that. They, at the same time though, force me to live in a circus they create and continue with in order to do so.

I just didn't know what he was talking about.

I hate the "No Promotion" claim though, I think that's a little bullshit... The no promotion argument works only for the short term, the album has been out for months now, and all it does is sink further down the Billboard charts, we are to believe that fans still don't know it's out there? I don't buy that for a second. There was no promotion, yeah, but I hardly doubt that is a legit excuse 4 or 5 months later. But initially it never should have been left up to debate, there should have been a tour with dates and band lineups already set and kicked off 2 or more months before the release, not still in planning months after, the first video should have been released 2 or more months before the release not still unreleased months after the release. But it has to be something deeper, because it's been out there.

I think all the other shit that has surrounded Axl Rose is to blame. This man had such a huge amount of buzz around him from late 2000 to 2002, and then Philly happened, Vancouver happened, and it was a case of same shit, different decade. I don't think enough people really give a shit anymore, he squandered his comeback, and that Del James hit piece was the cherry on top.

Nothing will change though, because Axl still blames everyone else, even when he is the only person in charge of shit.

Axl needs Paul McGuinness to manage him. If GNR were 10% as organised as U2, who knows what could have been achieved with CD.

As you say so well Loaded he squandered his comeback. His hill back to the top has now become a vertical sheet of glass unless he pulls the old band together which does not look like happening...unless maybe he goes broke (which is always a possibility in these troubled times).

If he could pull the Chinese Democracy line up together it could be great.
Axl (not that is all his fault)and his supporters, seem to have misjudged completely the affection people have of a band, and the members of a band, that made the music that they heard and loved  - and the importance of that affection of a fanbase plays a bands success. I'm talking CD era here as well.

The continuing revolving door leaves a sterile base to keep working from.

I really believe a Chinese Democracy world tour, in the vein of the 06 tour,  would have been a success if they just did what any other band would have done in that position.

People try and claim the artistic integrity means more, but those are just empty buzz words. If that was the case the music would have been released under a pseudonym and let it speak for itself.

I think there is something wrong with Axl that means there are long periods where he really is not 100% at all, and cannot walk outside his door and be the Axl Rose that is expected and demanded by others, and this is the reason for all the delays.

He never called his revolving door of musicians "Guns N' Roses." tongue

I was thinking about this earlier today Neemo. He didn't even have the same singer on the two Snakepit albums.

Axl can't keep a band together, but on the other side of the coin, Slash and Duff can't keep a singer in their fold.
