Re: Review of Loadeds "SICK"
IOU is probably the weakest track, I agree..but its not a bad track.
As for influences, I dont agree with Foo`s.. I dont hear Foo`s anywhere. All I hear is another Duff record, like I did with BD. Foo influence indeed..lol
Re: Review of Loadeds "SICK"
Foo's influence probably isn't the right way to describe it. I would say it's probably shared influences with Grohl.
I see what he's saying though, it's punk-ish and pop-ish at the same time. Foo Fighters have made a better career out of doing that than anyone else before them ever did.
I'm disappointed in myself for not paying more attention before I bought this. I didn't realize there were two versions, so I didn't get a dvd. Turns out I could have gotten the version with the dvd from the Century Media site for about the same price I got the version without it at Best Buy

Re: Review of Loadeds "SICK"
I hear stuff that sounds a bit similar to Foo Fighters on there. It's not an exact copy, but there are some moments where I'm expecting Dave Grohl to come in singing... hehe
I hear allot of Queens of the Stone Age influence too, with the riffing and even some of the drums. The Slide could've appeared on Songs For The Deaf I reckon.
Great album.

Re: Review of Loadeds "SICK"
I know what you are saying, but I wouldnt call it an "influence".
However, the guy who produced, engineered and mixed Sick, who is also duffs keyboard guy appears on a Lanegan album.
"Martin Feveyear - Organ, Percussion, Piano, Producer, Engineer, Mixing, Wurlitzer"
also produced Kings of Leon and Presidents of USA

mention of QOTSA at the bottom too
Re: Review of Loadeds "SICK"
This is a damn solid album. Depending on what else comes out this year, it will probably be on my Top 10 albums of 2009 list we do every year. I only listened to it twice earlier as I mainly listened to Bucket's new album, but so far my faves are:
Sick
Sleaze Factory
Mothers Day
I See Through You (sounds like a VR reject though)
Wasted Heart
Still haven't watched the DVD yet.

DUFF McKAGAN’S LOADED: Sick
4/5
GUNS N’ ROSES fans have been putting on brave faces about Chinese Democracy.
But let’s face it, it’s pants. Eons in the making, it’s the biggest letdown in popular music history.
Don’t despair though because here’s the perfect pick-me-up.
Ex-GN’R bassist Duff McKagan, currently of the singer-less Velvet Revolver after Scott Weiland’s sacking, has made a cracking album with his side project Loaded.
It bursts into life with the venomous title track and continues with sparkling solos, nifty riffs and heartfelt lyrics.
At least Duff is no duffer.
