I think he's saying the performance itself was shitty, not the fact Scott did it.

I'm not a Weiland fan, but I think this should be given the benefit of the doubt that it was a shitty cell phone video which could be to blame for the bad performance. Shitty audio. The dorky Harvard school shirt & tie's gotta go though.
