I find it interesting that the Dark Knight made as much considering that it was 2 and a half hours long, even if you factor in inflation that is a very impressive. I think it had good word of mouth and Batman Begins was a good film which led to anticipation for the sequel. However, I do think that it does have a story that appeals to the masses that everyone can relate to and understand that isn't very complicated. It appealed to every segment of the population. I've only seen it once in the theater and enjoyed it, eventually I'll pick it up on BR.
Spider-Man 3 was the weakest of the three, and it did the best. Go figure.
It was definitely helped by the foreign gross. It made the least of the three films domestically. Unfortunately, there is going to be a fourth installment.
Would it be possible to do a Worst Movie of all time next with the voting being not for the film we like the most but the one we dislike the most. Could have some great matchups in there.

Cant believe Psycho got eliminated this early.
Yeah, a worst movies elimination sounds good. Would be the first time Howard the Duck won anything.
The discussions for the worst movie elimination would be hillarious. We'd have users explaining the redeeming qualities of Gigli 
EDIT: Just discovered John Barry did some of the score for Howard the Duck.

That's why I think TDK needs to beat Star Wars. Right now TDK is the only thing keeping this thing legit imo, other than maybe Apocalypse Now.

Yeah, before the actual elimination started, I could see a final round of Apocalypse vs Psycho, maybe Shawshank. Then when a G/PG trend and a disregard of any horror became evident, I knew it wasn't happening.
Participated in a lot of these things in previous years, but this is the strangest one yet. Vegas should be taking bets on this because there's money to be made here.

Do ya have a spreadsheet handy of the upcoming battles? Couldnt seem to find one and wanna check what my choices will be up against if possible.
Vegas should be taking bets on this because there's money to be made here.
Theres an interesting idea 
Have a GNRevo pot and everyone chips in $2 at the start of each tournament. Winner and runner up split it 60/40 or something
