I think it's actually too simplistic. Needs more production imo. It doesn't have a kick to it.

Jackson's songs imo, even when covered, kind of need a bigger than life sound. I don't think they sound too good stripped.

I also though John Mayer's performance of Human Nature at the memorial the other day sucked too.

I don't agree.  He wasn't trying to make an MJ cover.  Anyone can make an up-beat 'tribute' such as this:  http://truthinshredding.blogspot.com/20 … ckson.html

Bucket's track is on a much deeper level imho.  He basically summed up MJ's life in one song, and it's obvious he was touched by this event, unlike other musicians who just whip out an MJ cover because they feel obliged to.

As for needing more production, I couldn't disagree more.  The rawness of the track is one of it's best attributes - finger squeaks, ghost notes and all.

Nice!  It really is a great tribute, I wish it would get more notice around the music world.  The first time I heard it I didn't think it was that great, but after watching the ceremonies on Tuesday and listening to the song the following day it was a much more emotional experience.  Good stuff!

See Page 1. I praised this tribute song from Bucket. It's great.

I was referring to the Human Nature & Billie Jean covers.

Doesn't work for some reason for certain people, so we gave the option to download it from our 4shared account.

You know, there are a lot of songs I'd put on the Buckethead list as jaw-dropping, head-shaking, can't-believe-what-i-just-heard (Lace, Soothsayer, Big Sur Moon), but as I just listened to this again, I can't help but think this is his crowning achievement.

And I think it's because we know the exact story behind it, where his inspiration was coming from. You can't help but imagine Bucket struggling emotionally as he played this. His hero, since he started playing (just read that famous story that accompanies the oft-seen unmasked photo), gone. And he had just recorded a celebratory MJ song, Return of Captain EO, to coincide with Jackson's comeback shows.

This one hurt. And you can hear it.

If memory serves me correctly, he had an MJ poster on his wall in that early footage on Secret Recipe.

It is an amazing track, and certainly deserves a CD release.
