That is a kick ass performance. This band knows how to put on a show and just completely avoid monotony. Bands around as long as they are simply do not mix things up like that.

Its really unfortunate how U2 seems to be blacklisted here. Not technically, but pretty damn close. The album nosedived after its initial push. Its an amazing album. Probably my favorite album of 2009, although Lily Allen is a close 2nd.

Magnificent should have destroyed the charts. They need to unleash another single when the US tour kicks off.

Re: U2 - Acoustic Achtung Babies

I wasn't able to go to either one of the shows in Sweden due to time and space.

Too bad since I missed them back in 2005 as well, but according to the press I didn't miss anything spectacular.

But I've learned to take their words with a grain of salt...

Yeah I woudln't listen to much of what the press has to say good or bad really. I've been reading and seems alot of writers are trying their best to trash this based on the grand scale of it all. Kinda the way Popmaert got treated by the press, yet if you talk to the people who actually attend the show for the show it's getting massively good reviews.  According to the fans the stage design and set up is fucking amazing and the videos don't even come close to doing it justice. I can't wait to find out for myself. September 16th in Toronto and 24th in New York(New Jersey I guess)

Forgotten U2 Songs Surface

U2 songs recorded two decades ago but left unreleased will soon surface.

U2 have revealed that they are going to release songs that were recorded for an earlier album which they forgot all about.

The Irish rockers said they found several songs they recorded while making their 1984 album The Unforgettable Fire.

Frontman Bono and guitarist The Edge said they rediscovered the songs while they were remastering the record for its 25th anniversary reissue which is scheduled for release later this year.

Speaking to Radio 1, The Edge said: "I listened to some tracks that we're gonna release with the new Unforgettable Fire reissue, some new songs that we discovered that we'd recorded, back in that era - the '80s - that we're gonna put out. And they sound amazing."

Bono said that one track, entitled 'Disappearing Act', is "incredibly special".

The Edge added that the band have just completed putting the finishing touches to it in the studio.

He said: "Well, it was originally called 'White City', and it was a track we started with Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois back in 1983 when we were recording The Unforgettable Fire.

"And we discovered it about six months ago, and we dug it out and did some work on it in France a few weeks ago, and it's now finished."

Bono added: "It's 25 years ago, the drums, the bass and the guitar. And now, the voices. It is a strange, weird thing. And it's going out with The Unforgettable Fire reissue, but no-one's heard it."

That album will be topping the charts. Gonna be killer to hear some new old material, but I hope they aren't using this to pacify fans instead of that quick follow up to No Line.

No they won't do that. This release was planned long ago. The follow up to NLOTH which is called Songs of Ascent won't be out till next year though. There's still a for sure third leg of the tour in 2010, possibly a 4th leg so they'll want the news osngs for those legs I'm sure.

Anyways I was pleasntly surprised to see NLOTH is the 2nd best selling album of 2009 so far world wide. Of the albums on the list I'm pretty sure it's safe to say over time it'll easily distance itself from the pack not including the MJ albums. Lady Gaga at #1. Pathetic. The numbers are low for U2 standards but I guess in the 2009 climate of economy and downloading it's to be expeceted. I honestly didn't think it'd impact U2 this much though. Maybe I was a bit naive. Maybe it's thier own fault for releasing Get on Your Boots as the lead single.  If the figures below are incorrect I aplogize. I got them from a discussion on a U2 site where some fans were saying U2 decided to tour stadiums behind a poor selling album.
