Re: Prob no Brain on tour
I don't know. Maybe the fact that they've never gone 2 years without at least 1 change in the lineup?
And they've continued that trend, DJ is in for Robin. People are just expecting another change I guess, because there's no evidence that there will be any other changes.

Re: Prob no Brain on tour
Dj's website lists the band as:
Axl Rose
DJ Ashba
Richard Fortus
Tommy Stinson
Frank Ferrer
Dizzy Reed
Bumblefoot
Chris Pitman
Not only is this information on his offical site, but futher, there's been no indication from any of these people that they've left GNR, and in some cases their recent statments indicate they are still engaging in GNR rehearsals etc.
So I think we need to settle down. Brain has a family and for that or whatever other reason he didn't come on the 2007 tour. Axl considers him part of the family as he plays on CD, and they seem to still be on good terms, so it's possible we'll see him again in some GNR project one day but it's hardly all that shocking that he's not going on this tour when on the last tour a new drummer filled in for him, and the band has commented about rehersing with that same drummer.
Re: Prob no Brain on tour
So far DJ is the only one giving us any kind of, albiet roundabout, "official" updates.
He has now moved ahead of Ron in my book.
Well Ron has confirmed he's in LA and has been hanging out with Frank and the Pitman's.
So far we've got DJ, Ron, Chris, Richard, Dizzy, and Frank who are known to be in CA. No word on Tommy or Axl to my knowledge, obviously Axl is the constant. The only question I guess is with Tommy, but again there's been absolutely no indication that he's been/will be replaced.
That's why this "we'll have to wait till they hit the stage to see who's in the band" mantra doesn't make any sense to me.
Unless of course the shows in December don't happen and they don't hit the stage for 4 years or so, then all bets are off. But right now, I don't think there's any mystery as to who's in the band, for once. People are just creating their own conspiracy theories.
Re: Prob no Brain on tour
doesn't make sense at all....just the typical negative banter. Tommy lives in LA or very close by....
Tommy may be touring some with Soul Asylum
Tour Dates:
11/06/09 Coquitlam, British Columbia – Boulevard Casino
10/03/09 Gretna, LA – Gretna Heritage Festival
10/01/09 Nashville, TN – Wildhorse Saloon
Re: Prob no Brain on tour
They're all session musicians playing 10-year old material from a previous band anyways...
With 'active' GN'R, just means rehearsing before another show. You could rehearse for 2 weeks, then not see each other for 6 months, and you're just as "in" as you were when you left.
If you're not touring, and you're not writing... you're not "out" or "in", you're not really anything.
And that's been the problem for years. They aren't anything. They don't mean anything to the band. Brain's departure means virtually nothing at this point. Josh is gone, Robin is gone, Paul is gone, Bucket is gone, Brain is gone, etc. These are the guys who helped sculpt that entire era of GN'R. Even Ron has admitted to the fact they haven't written anything together.
The point i'm getting at, is this who's in, who's out thing is ridiculous at this point. It means NOTHING.
Axl could hit the stage in December, with himself on vocals, Zakk Wylde on guitar, Brian May on lead guitar 2, Keith Richards on rhythm guitar, Gene Simmons on bass, Tommy Lee on drums, Elton John on piano, and Jordan Rudess on synth... it doesn't matter.
Who's in the band?
Axl Rose... that's all that matters at this point.
I can't believe people sit back with this fuckin' drama about "who's in the band". The day it stopped being a band, was the day Izzy walked out the door.
Re: Prob no Brain on tour
The one thing that keeps popping in my head is that Axl's "involvement" with the band is in the studio. It's obvious they haven't been in the studio a pretty long time since CD was finished.
Could these shows be booked specifically for raising money to get back in the studio, like how the last tour was figured to fund finishing up CD?
