Re: Prob no Brain on tour
personally, i belive the rumors that the 2 other albms are finished and after bb bought almost 2 million cd's in advance i have a hard time believing they are short on money for recording/mastering/mixing any material that may be on the horizon and since they don't promote their material that about covers the bulk of expenses.
my question is not if this tour is to fund recording for album but if it to promote cd1 along with cd1.
and that's not wishful thinking - i know better than to get my hopes up for something like that or to expect what makes the most sense.

That question can be answered when the setlist is unveiled.
Re: Prob no Brain on tour
The one thing that keeps popping in my head is that Axl's "involvement" with the band is in the studio. It's obvious they haven't been in the studio a pretty long time since CD was finished.
Could these shows be booked specifically for raising money to get back in the studio, like how the last tour was figured to fund finishing up CD?
I am gonna go with what Axl said in the chats. He wants to work CD first.....obviously a weird way of going about it but a year in Axl time is a week for us normal folk!
Re: Prob no Brain on tour
I cant see them playing any unreleased songs, not when they have the ones off CD to premier in the live setting. Would be awesome though if they got back to basics and tried new material live to see how it went down with the crowd. It'll never happen though
Brain also said that he had heard nothing regarding a follow up album. From what he has said in the past, the album still not being released for the 06/07 tour, was a reason why he never came back on the tour after his baby was born. Mabye its the same deal this time around.

he also hinted the next album would be out late this year

Good call
Re: Prob no Brain on tour
yes he did....thought about that after I posted. But, we all know, another album a few months off is a complete pipe dream.
Yes it is a pipe dream unfortunately, and even if he did have plans either for a quick follow up or a more likely scenario of a rerelease with bonus tracks, the fact Best Buy is overflowing with copies of CD pretty much prevents either from happening.
We're not even close to seeing anything until that product has been liquidated from shelves. Even then we may not see anything, but we definitely wont until that situation has been resolved.
Hopefully the american press will cover this Asian tour as it will cause more copies to be sold. If/when they tour here, album sales will go up as well. If Best Buy puts it on sale during both time frames, that will cause an increase as well.
The objective of all parties involved should be unloading this crap. Another reason GNR's silence on its official sites regarding these shows is preposterous. It's like they're begging for failure.
Also, while the singles weren't even a popcorn fart on pop culture's radar, they should definitely release one to coincide with the start of this tour. Grow some balls and include a real B side with it as well.
Re: Prob no Brain on tour
I still think This I Love would make a great Christmas season single, it has such a wintery feel to it and generally just has an appeal to wider ranging audience than the heavier songs.
I'm feeling quite pleased with myself as I have finally located those reclusive harp moments in the song. It took the guitarless version and some weed to locate it, but its there. The only bits that stand out are during the bridge at the end of the odd bar when she is giving it some major strumming, the harp equivilant of drumrolls
Re: Prob no Brain on tour
I exchanged emails with Brian some weeks ago, we were talking about the tour
damned, the image is horrible
well, see it here
