Re: Does anyone else get the impression that Axl is trying to re-build ...
Are we banning him for posting something that he or someone else posted on another site, for being BBA, or just because you want to? I'm just curious.
You've been around long enough to know what kind of person he is.
I find your views extremely annoying, but I still haven't exactly started a petition to get you banned.

I think Axl is like a movie producer/director. He likes directing a movie he will never find an ending for and in the making of the movie he likes to hire more and more actors to play the parts in the movie!!!
Re: Does anyone else get the impression that Axl is trying to re-build ...
I am aware of BBA and I personally can't stand the guy because he's a liar that likes to start shit. Lets make sure it's actually him first, and then wait until he does something worth being banned. If he is BBA, he will bury himself at some point. No need to do it for him.
Re: Does anyone else get the impression that Axl is trying to re-build ...
The problem is simply that Axl takes such a long time to do anything, these huge periods of inactivity are why people leave. I figure they just decide to give up and make commitments to other projects, and say "sorry Axl, I cant hang about any longer, I have these offers and I've decided I'm going to take them up."
The way the old band fell apart was uglier and more complicated though.
Re: Does anyone else get the impression that Axl is trying to re-build ...
Axl can rebuild... again... all he wants.
If it didn't work the first 47 times, it won't work the 48th.
Sad but true. I wish it was different. I'd love to see new Guns out there with a new album every couple years, EP's in-between, live shows on DVD, videos, concerts, with a continous lineup, but Axl just won't have it that way.

Re: Does anyone else get the impression that Axl is trying to re-build ...
If we're being honest here, every single replacement since 1990 has been a degradation to the musician that they have replaced.
I disagree with that.....obviously the original line up holds a special place in rock history - I mean Izzy is Izzy, Slash is Slash and Axl is Axl...and that band will live forever in the minds of those who experinenced it as an amazing chemestry.
The new band is a different beast, but it's also pretty killer in a different way. And this idea that the players progressively get worse is a fiction of the internet.
Lets look at some:
Paul and Richard - Richard is very good on guitar. I know paul co-wrote 4 tracks on Chinese Democracy and i respect him for that, but lets not get carried away about his ability. He wasn't happy in the live context. Richard is solid as a rock in the rhythm parts and suits the band well.
Adler vs Sorum: I'm a fan of adler, and I like the way the songs sound with him, and prefer his style. But Sorum is a very proficient and able drummer, and kept the band together very well.
Brain vs Frank: I know everyone loves brain as a techincal drummer and so forth, but to be honest when I saw frank live I felt his style suited the songs better, and i couldnt fault his drumming.
Bumblefoot: While buckethead is one of those hard to replace guys because there's only like 3 guys in the world who play like that, bumble has done a pretty good job of adding his own stamp to the songs, while replicating what bumble did. The twat solo in spain was pretty note perfect. Bumble is insanely good on guitar, to call him a degredation or whatever is just plain wrong.
DJ v Fink: well, lets wait till we see him peform. But I have a feeling DJ is going to e awesome in this band.
Bottom line: If you want to compare OLD gnr to NEW gnr - well it's comparing two very different bands and approaches to the music and kind of apples and oranges. But the 2009 line up is definately NOT weaker than the 2002 line up in my opinion.
As for the rest of your post, I suspect Axl values loyality from his band mates quite highly, but I don't agree with the suggestion that the memebers are loyal because they have nothing else to do. Guys like richard and bumble could get work in other bands, but they're excited by and interested in Axl's music.
I think the real reason people left the new band is: The time just got too long for some people, especially with a fan base hostile to the new band concept, and while pre-existing legal issues dragged on for years. And secondly the chemestry in the 2002 line up always seemed awarkward. I love the album and all, but I dont think buckethead really ever fitted in with the rest of the bandmembers.
Re: Does anyone else get the impression that Axl is trying to re-build ...
Well an alternate way to look at this would be, musicians have massive, MASSIVE egos, so if Axl brought in a superstar shithot guitarist and immediately started to plan tours, releases etc and had their work all over his new album, they've got him over a barrel and he'd have to concede to every demand they made, or they'd threaten to walk out and leave him back where he started.
I think they guy likes to have creative control a lot and it seems like he faced a situation like the one I outlined above with the old band, maybe he just wants to avoid getting involved with it again?
Any guitarist who's really a-list in that world is gonna be someone who has their own strong ideas, and instead of contributing them evenly like it seems the current lineup do, they could be on an ego-trip to make GnR theirs, to stamp their personality all over it.
I can get why that's not so appealing, he's been through a lot to retain control of GnR (rightly or wrongly, whatever) and probably doesn't fancy inviting in someone so distinguished and indispensible that he faces losing all that control yet again unless he gives them free rein.
Finally I saw the new band in 2006 and believe me there was NOTHING in my opinion second-rate about them., Fortus was actually one of the best performers I've ever seen and I mean EVER,he really rocked out and pissed all over Slash's "standing still with fag and hat" schtick...

I'm afraid you have never seen Slash live. Not even a single video on youtube. BTW as I heard Usain Bolt runs faster than Fortus, so Axl really should sign him as the 457th guitarist.
