I'm afraid you have never seen Slash live. Not even a single video on youtube. BTW as I heard Usain Bolt runs faster than Fortus, so Axl really should sign him as the 457th guitarist.

I wouldn't say Fortus shits all over anything slash does with his power strumming lol

slash was sloppy in his day due to the lack of sobreity but let's not get carried away here

I had a thought last night that mabye Robin was a bit sloppy live and made those odd head and body movements, cause he was on stage drunk as a skunk.

Wembley twice, 91 & 92, Milton Keynes twice, 93. I'll concede I wasn't as near the stage, but yeah I;ve seen him. 22

Fortus wasn't running about like a nut (you could maybe catch Wembley 2006 on youtube), just intense and very cool. Kinda like Trent reznor back in 94, that vibe. cool

And not really "X versus Y" just making the point that his performance was quality and not second rate - Slash is an awesome player and I have nothing but respect for his music. wink

No way I'd participate in a 'Fortus vs. Slash dicsussion'. C'mon, it'd be insane. A nobody vs. a legend. What's next, a Hookers N' Blow backup-singer against Axl Rose? 18

And yet really, that's a big part of what this entire thread is - proposing that the new lineup aren't as good as the old ones... roll

Just sayin'! 16

Hello BBA 5

Nice to see you back again.

14 Its funny how you can sniff out a BBA account the way I can sniff out a warchild account. Its like a sixth sense.

You beat me to it Atari.........BBA is back

Here is BBA, I Want a Reunion, Incognito ....now "Rob"....

please ban this guy now

I realize there is a 99% chance its BBA, but there's also a 1% chance he just swiped a thread idea from another site, which happens quite often at many forums. I cant ban someone for swiping posts, although technically that's plagiarism. 16 His IP does not match his 10 other accounts here. If it is him, then his usual tendencies will immediately surface. If/when they do, he will be flushed.

I am aware of BBA and I personally can't stand the guy because he's a liar that likes to start shit.  Lets make sure it's actually him first, and then wait until he does something worth being banned.  If he is BBA, he will bury himself at some point.  No need to do it for him

Exactly. An example of this is when I was banned from a crime forum I had lurked at for years. Finally joined to participate in the discussions, and a few people immediately thought I was a troll because I had the same opinion on the Ramsey case as the guy/girl they knew. I was banned no questions asked.

I was banned from MyGNR the same way.

I said "Buckethead will be on the album". Someone who had repeatedly beat that into the ground last fall got on Frauline's bad list. I was immediately banned, and told I was using multiple accounts.

It was bullcrap. I simply agreed with the guy to a T.

Odd thing is, conviently the ban was not lifted, when in fact Bucket was ALL OVER CD, as well as side-by-side with Axl in the liner notes.

Finally I saw the new band in 2006 and believe me there was NOTHING in my opinion second-rate about them.

Yeah I think the new band gets a hard time online because people get used to specific players and then when things change the focus is more on what's changed rather than what is.

Which is what it is I guess and in part a natural consequence of the name-debate and all that stuff.

But at the end of the day Axl has assembled an arsonal of insanely talented players together.

I think the 2009 band will also be VERY promicing. I know I keep saying it, but I feel ashba may provide an ingredient that's been missing for a while.

I've been thinking a lot about this comment.

I think the sad thing is that I'd guess both Slash and Fortus would probably like and respect each other.

Fortus is a very technical and talented master of the guitar, he's great at creating a lot of the intricacies and replicating certain sounds in a variety of styles, and I would think Slash would appriciate that.

Likewise, I'm sure fortus would respect slash, firstly because Slash helped create many of the famous parts fortus replicates each show and presumabely enjoys, and also because slash is known and respected by most guitarists as a master of his particualr sound on guitar.

Just a thought.

Another thing I wanted to say about this is I think it does a disservice to fortus. I agree with the first half of your statement, he's a fantastic guitarist and a great live peformer.

But to use him to insult others is kind of what makes people ingnore his actual abilites and dislike him and that's a shame.

Meanwhile slash is also famous for putting on a KILLER live show, i'll grant more recently he stands in the spot and smokes more than he runs around, but that's because he had a pace maker installed pre-VR, and frequently gets zapped for being too excited on stage. Cut the man some slack, if he now runs like a madman while playing, as I remember him doing in 1993, then he'd get several shocks from the pacemaker!
