Re: GNR tour dates in Canada?
it's funny how people say "gnr needs to do this" or "they need to that."
don't you people pay attention??? they don't do much by the book. and despite 10+ years of not following the standard rules, they can still book a major tour on different continents around the world.
clearly, gnr doesn't HAVE to do anything.
Re: GNR tour dates in Canada?
?
Okay, you don't want it to happen, but your definition of "it" isn't really clear.
If my uncle had wheels and peddles, he'd be a bicycle.
And people need to die before we bury them.
The only argument I can make out here is, "Why bother?" Why not?
I would love to see CD get played from start to finish. But it just isn't going to happen. It just isn't. I don't want to tell you.
Why not?
I don't know man, ask fuckin' Axl. But as far as i'm concerned, sitting back and thinking you're going to get the majority, or even half of CD played at each show, just because the album is out, is as likely as me saying that a reunited GN'R will play those Canadian shows.
It just isn't going to happen.
I think the album's poor performance will actually tend Axl to scale back on CD stuff, and just play the hits or maybe replace CD songs with UYI songs, which were the major request during the chats. We already know they were working songs like Don't Cry & Perfect Crime back in 2006, and Axl mentioned Civil War & Estranged possibly being thrown in there.
It just isn't going to change man. Maybe it will. I will be so happy if it does. But it won't.
Re: GNR tour dates in Canada?
Axlin, where in the world in my posts did you get that I wanted them to play majority CD songs on tour? Touring CD doesn't mean not playing the standards. If anything they just need to include TWAT, Sorry, If The World, Prostitute and possibly Shacklers to the list.

Thats hilarious. I bet the look on her face was priceless.
There were a ton of tickets given away at all of the shows that tour. None of the information is credible regardless of the source.
Tons of venues in the US had empty sections so they clearly weren't giving away enough. A lot of acts paper events that don't sell out. A packed house is a packed house.
I think a key factor this time around is the choice of opening act. Its time to pick someone who will help put asses in seats, not chase them away.

What? Baz didn't put asses in the seats?
Re: GNR tour dates in Canada?
I hope Baz ain't around this time....now, Bubbles and that Liquor and Whores tune was pretty cool.
Re: GNR tour dates in Canada?
Its quite an achievement that they had all of those Canadian venues booked and the tour lined up, without the news sporadically leaking out beforehand. One date appeared a few days before the big announcement, but negotiations must have been going on for quite some time beforehand, and yet they managed to keep it all cloak and dagger and spring a genuine suprise to Canadian fans.
I think thats pretty damn cool! I wonder what else is in the pipeline that they have managed to keep the lid on?

While I will go if they come to Frisco or Sac, having Baz on the bill would seriously make me want to vomit. If he's the opener, I wont be showing up at the venue until 11 or 12.
It's time to bring someone current and relevant into the mix. Those empty sections can be filled with the right opener.
Play Riad instead of that Liquor and Whores crap....
