And I believe that he was going to come back during that period when he was a member of The Corporation but his drug habit (he showed up stoned out of his mind to a meeting) got him kicked out of the WWE.

Eh, maybe. HBK/Austin faced off several times. There was one on Austin's retrospective DVD that was pretty good, but I can't remember what event it was. It was 1997 I want to say. That WM-XIV match was also memorable, as it was during the DX/Austin feud.

HBK came back in the early 2000's and faced off against guys like Hogan, HHH, Flair, and numerous memorable Raw matches, despite his increasing age. There were times I thought he was a better seller during his return, than during his prime.

And of course that HBK/Hart & HBK/Taker matches in the 90's were legendary.

I would say the only ticket that was missed out on was HBK/Rock. In their prime, type of card. Rock was still being grown when HBK was on the way out, and then when HBK returned, Rock had already had his prime and left for Hollywood, and still hasn't returned. Rock's been out of the ring for so long at this point, that I question how much ability is left in him. He's still in great shape, so maybe.

A few years ago, both HBK & Rock were approached for a big WM legends match. Both balked for the same reasons. Neither really saw the point or reason as to why HBK and Rock would face off, and it never happened.

I always felt they could've played off of the "Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment", "The People's Champ" vs. "The Showstoppa" "The Main Event"

I just want to say that this was a pleasure to read. I have been an avid watcher of Shawn Michaels for a very very long time. I was very sad to see him go, but I knew it was only a matter of time. It was the end of a very long road, one that I am very, very greatful he shared with us.

Why are you bringing up Ric Flair in a Shawn Michaels thread?

Ric Flair < Shawn Michaels

Flair even said it himself.

I think an HBK title run, like say, Stephanie and Jericho's when he had both championship belts, would have been totally ass-kickingly killer. No offense to Y2J, but HBK would've been much, much better in that role.

And HBK was at the point of jobbing nearly every big match. Unless there was some serious bad blood, I don't see why he wouldn't have jobbed to Rock.

There is no doubt that Shawn is 100 times better than Flair.  And unlike Flair, Shwan got out while on top.  Flair is a HUGE reason I won't watch TNA.  But man I hathe HBK back then.  Is boyhood dream gimmick sucked.  When he beat Bret Hart at WM 12 I was really pissed.  Everything about his gimmick sucked back then.  Shawn had great matches but his gimmick kept me from fully enjoying them.  Having Lothario as a manager didn't help neither.  Then he started "losing his smile" when it came time for him to do jobs.  So really made it hard to appreciate him back then.
