Well I don't think he deserved this at all, I just think anyone who does this kind of shit are just idiots, because they know the risk and then when it happens it seems like they are surprised that it happened to them.

Surprised everyone is implying he deserves this. Yeah he knows the risk but that doesn't mean he shouldn't get sympathy. If a BMX rider has a similar accident everyone who has posted so far would have a way different attitude.
Bull fighting is just part of a different culture... sucks for the bulls but it's not like the US treats it's cows well O_O.
I totally did not mean to imply he deserves this at all.
It's more for me that i saw a doco about the cruelty done to the bulls before hand to make sure they are angry enough to peform, and frankly, while I accept its the culture of that country, I personally can not accept it at a moral level. I see it as unnecessary cruelty to a living creature purely for entertainment and thus quite barbaric in a way.
However, that doesn't eman that i think the matador deserves this to happen, two wrongs don't make a right, and as you point out, no one likes to see a thrill-seaker or daredevil peformer get injured. We want our magicians to escape the waterbox and our motorbikers to make that death defying jump.
Personally I don't eat meat, but I know what you're saying about the double standards, like most of us contribute to the bad lives of animals then get all upset on occasion.
Like my cousin was sitting down to a meal of baby lamb and complaining that it's cruel to keep an elephant in the circus that's in town up the road from here. Funny world.
