Re: Anyone been to Poland?
As far as their beers go, I prefer Tyskie. But I'm not a beer drinker (which is odd for a Belgian) so my opinion might not be the most valuable. I am into the stronger stuff though, and I can definitely recommend Zubrowka "Bison Grass Vodka". Even if you don't like vodka, worth a try.
Re: Anyone been to Poland?
Well, the rest of it is taken care of by my wife, so I only need to do my beer research! I like it that way.
Anyway, tried it all, plus a few German ones.
Tyskie, Zywiec, Okocim, Zubrowka (also beer and bought a bottle of vodka for my bro), Paulaner, Engel, Erdinger, plus a few I'm sure I forgot!
Paulaner is shit, Okocim is king. Tyskie too, but I do think I pick Okocim as my personal fave. Very sweet. Great stuff.
In Bialystok, east Poland:
Went to Krakow as well. Nice city. Prefer Edinburgh or Prague, but still worth a visit. Needs some restoration perhaps. Costs are very low anywhere. Superb. Went to Auschwitz and Birkenau. Hard to come to grips with the reality of the mass murders, as such numbers and such brutality is not in any healthy human beings mind at all. Birkenau was huge.
