I seriously thought there would be a riot. And that he'd fan the flames of it. But he didn't and he ended on a very, very cool note.
The article says that he started winning them over during the show after they WERE booing the band. That's pretty cool.
Not as cool as staging a sit in after getting the plug pulled and playing PC over a megaphone, though.

Not so good, but I'll wait to see more before passing judgement. They should have gone on in time, but it does seem that they did the best they could with what happened.

axl heads into the crowd high fiving people.
then the megaphone comes out and the intro to better and a small part of paradise city are played.

i nvr thought the reading fans would care enough to riot tbh. leeds'll be a different matter - & in fact it's a tradition for that crowd to riot (burning toilets & rioting w/the pigs) on sunday, which is when GnR are headlining & closing the festival.
the reading crowd are a bunch of pussy indie-kids.

I envision it a little like this.

to be honest, it was heading into a trainwreck with booing & stuff, but to my astonishment they've kind of turned it around. it will be the talking point of the festival.
i don't know how or why, but i'm pleased with them.
night night.
