Re: Reading, United Kingdom - August 27, 2010 (Reading Festival)
to be honest, it was heading into a trainwreck with booing & stuff, but to my astonishment they've kind of turned it around. it will be the talking point of the festival.
i don't know how or why, but i'm pleased with them.
night night.
It does seem that way. And luckily there were no riots or anything, at least that we've heard. Credit to what seemed like what could've been an unruly crowd AND the band for handling what was thrown at them as well as they could.
Of course we'll wait for the full reports, but it appears things turned out okay. Who knows what will happen on Sunday. More of the same? If Axl WAS pissed and wanted no part of this anymore, he'd have every right (in HIS mind) to have walked off stage and called it quits tonight. So it's a good sign that he stuck around a bit, I'd say.

i think belfast will be mundane enough.. BUT if there are real problems of getting axl on stage i can see the crowd getting violent and/or leaving.
but i've also seen no real evidence of severely bad behaviour from axl regarding actually doing the concert since '02 (unless i'm forgetting something..?? llike there's been no last min cancellations 'cause he's being an eejit) so i'm confident it'll be a typical gig.

A riot in Glasgow I can handle, a riot so far from home would be much more scary
Seriously, GNR almost had a riot on their hands in 2006 in Glasgow and they came on at 9.50!! I can imagine Belfast being just as frisky if they are left standing waiting for ages, only saving grace is its a Tuesday, Glasgow was a hot and humid Friday night.
When was the last time GN'R(Axl) came on before 10pm? Asia? Canada?
Re: Reading, United Kingdom - August 27, 2010 (Reading Festival)
Its just losing its appeal to me, they dont seem to be trying anymore.
i have similar doubts tbh.. but i am hopeful that live they do give it their all. for all the shit that goes down a small part of me thinks they do believe in what they're doing & are giving 100% when on stage (& maybe even off it - on tour)..
a boring & cold (& dreary) tues night in belfast could be just what the doctor ordered...
