Re: Alice's take on Axl

hey my personal taste, I'll take Motley Crue greatest hits over Led Zeppelin or The Beatles but I'd never sit here and say MC are a better band cause objectively i can listen and realize they aren't better, i just prefer it.
I'd never go into a room and debate Motley as being better just cause my "taste" likes them more.
Seems anytime axl gets a new guitar player.. the whole "Taste" thing comes into play. Finck now DJ.
D, it seems like you're arguing just for the sake of arguing. You were one of the biggest DJ supporters when he came on board, saying how good a writer he was citing SixxAM and Motley Crue. Now all of a sudden, he's a Slash wannabe and SixxAM and MC were nothing special. What exactly happened to turn you off to DJ? I have a feeling you just want to stick up for Slash, but there's no need to tear down DJ in the process.
And as for taste. As much as I enjoyed Contraband, Libertad, AND Slash. We're not talking about The White Album here. It is entirely possible for someone to enjoy The Heroin Diaries or Saints of Los Angeles as much if not more than those 3 albums. And no sales numbers, awards, or critical acclaim can change that.
See though Faldor, there u go with the all or nothing New GNR supporter M.O.
just because DJ isn't better than Slash in no way means i now hate the guy or thinks he sucks. Just saying, he doesn't compare to Slash. he is a million times better than Robin.I still believe he can write some kick ass awesome stuff and GNR will be back to the top of the rock charts.
He still though, is a Slash clone and a poor man's Slash at best.
Re: Alice's take on Axl
There YOU go. I never said you had to like him better than Slash. I've never said that in this thread and I don't think anyone else has either. For some reason though, a contingent of Slash fans are feeling the need to stick up for him and trash DJ at the same time. NOBODY has stated, as far as I can tell that DJ Ashba is a better guitarist than Slash. The ONLY thing that was said, is that DCK prefers DJ's work to Slash's from the mid 90's on. I'm not so sure why you take such offense to that.

ne band fans have a need to shit on/discredit the original band to try and make the new band look great.
so when someone says they prefer the old band.. somehow they jump on that fan as if he or she is shitting on the new band when in reality, not being better than a top 5-10 all time great band is no slight in any way shape or form.
saying DJ is not better than Slash is trashing him how? u do realize Slash was voted 2nd best Guitarist of ALL TIME in Time magazine.
so DJ not being better than Slash isn't saying DJ sucks. just he isn't on that level.
U accused me of no longer liking DJ when i was steering the bandwagon before. I still love DJ, he just isn't Slash.
Re: Alice's take on Axl
Calling DJ a Slash wannabe and downplaying his writing ability in SixxAM and with Motley sounds a little like trashing him to me. Sorry, that's just how I see it. People just seem to be overdoing sticking up for Slash, when NOBODY has claimed that Slash isn't a top 10 guitarist of all time. You seem to be creating arguments that aren't even there.
Re: Alice's take on Axl
Good God. Even I'm tired of this. Who cares anymore? Like whoever you want. Think Robin is better than Slash. At the end of the day, what someone else thinks in no way affects your ability to enjoy whatever version it is that you enjoy. It's not about who's better. Better is a relative word. Whatever GnR version you appreciate most has given you music that you can enjoy whether it's bootlegs, albums, solo projects, whatever. Can't we all just get along?

That's basically what I've been trying to say. All this back and forth seems to be completely unnecessary. Nobody was slamming anyone in this thread, yet some people felt the need to stick up for and tear down others for no apparent reason.

Paris is a city of fashion. Every time Axl played an acoustic show it was in a fashion capital. Only Milan didn't get it for some reason.
Playing an acoustic set is good news though, maybe he's in better mental state now.
