I downloaded the season and just finished it last night. I was pleasantly surprised. I rarely watch new tv shows so went into it with zero expectations. Angie Harmon was the only reason I even bothered to check it out. Its basically just a cop show/CSI clone so if you like those types of shows, I do recommend it.

While I do like it, it requires a massive suspension of disbelief. While it is  Harmon's best role to date, I cant hardly buy watching her shoot serial killers and interrogate them. I've almost laughed during certain scenes. She's just too beautiful for the role of this single, blue collar, street wise detective. The scenes with her family are great and so is her interaction with Isles and their friendship comes off as genuine. I also like the tension between her and the other detectives. It's when you get to the action scenes that you start to roll your eyes.

Also some of these plots are just too outlandish. One week she's on the trail of a serial killer obsessed with her, then going undercover at a gay bar to find some lesbo killer, then running in the Boston Marathon and having to solve the case of two runners shot during the race.

If this series would just tone down some of this stuff, they may have a hit on their hands that lasts for many years. This season had good ratings so a second is on tap for next year, but they really need to change a few things or people are gonna stop watching(including me).

Hmm, that's kind of the reason I stayed away from it is it just seemed like another CSI with a Cagney & Lacey slant.

One of my biggest issues with crime dramas these days, if not always, has been the women they cast to play the cops are completely unbelieveable in the roles. It's not that they are bad actresses or bad people, but they are so physically gifted that they are hardly believeable as real deal cops.

I'm watching this new Hawaii Five-O and it's a good little buddy cop action show, but there's this hot Hawaiian surfer chick on it who's a fuckin' babe, whew, and as smokin' hot as she is, it's hard to imagine her as a real deal detective.

Even with Angie Harmon, the irony is, if you really wanted these criminals to crack, stick Harmon in men's dress shirt and cotton panties and put her in the interrogation room... she'd make Bin Laden crack.

Anytime these hot chicks do the tough guy routine... I wanna laugh too. 14

Yeah, a woman who was on the runways and all over mags in her teens/early 20s just isn't very believable in such roles. Had she never met Hasselhoff who convinced her to give acting a shot, she would have been a supermodel. The least they could do is make her look less attractive.

I love her voice. Surprised she doesn't get tons of work doing commercials and things of that nature.

I have not watched Hawaii Five-O. I'll have to check it out.

I caught the one episode with Mark Paul Gosselar last month.  And while it was an interesting episode, the plot issues you previously mentioned are kinda the reason, I never watched another episode.  I did like that one scene where she had to eat the fish with the fancy cutlery.

They (Harmon and Alexander) do the mismatched partner thing well though.  I always liked her bitchiness (sorry that's the best term to describe it) when she was on Law and Order around 10 years ago.  I've been spoiled by the Law and Order series and Homicide.

Anyone watching The Event?  I caught the first two eps and they were good enough to keep me interested.

Yeah I love her voice. Always been mega-sexy. She'd definitely be in the Top-3 or so women Hoff shared the screen with. I always had a thing for Nicole Eggert, who also had that lower scratchy voice like Harmon, and I always thought Alexandra Paul was underrated.

I think that's the worst episode. Before giving up on it you should watch one or two more.

Never watched The Event. Hadn't even heard of it until you mentioned it. 16

I saw some of The Event on a rerun Saturday night... I just could never get into it. Seemed boring and have a feel of "been there, done that".

And another thought, don't bank your series on Jason Ritter. Can't stand that guy's acting. Such a poor actor imo, despite who his father was. His acting put a bad taste in my mouth since Freddy vs. Jason, and i've just never recovered.

Man. This is getting brutal. I have a love/hate relationship with this show. The 2nd season is definitely worse than the first though. While I initially liked the family aspect of the show, it got old REALLY quick. The 2nd season has Rizzoli's mother getting divorced, working at the cafeteria at police headquarters, and sometimes a 1/3 of an episode being scenes in that cafeteria is just absurd, especially since they never even showed this cafeteria in the first season but now it's the hot spot. I thought the series should get away from wasting precious time on Rizzoli's family and episode one this season with the divorce made me think they were, but no. It got worse even with the father out of the equation. Now her brother went from being a normal cop in a few scenes to hanging around them wanting to be a detective. Gimme a fucking break.

I'm a big fan of Angie Harmon but if this show doesn't change course near the end of the season or the start of season 3, I'm gonna quit watching it.

It needs to revamp itself and be more like Law & Order: Criminal Intent was in its first few seasons.
