Baby killed after interrupting mom's Facebook time
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A north Florida mother has pleaded guilty to shaking her baby to death after the boy's crying interrupted her game on Facebook.
Alexandra V. Tobias pleaded guilty to second-degree murder on Wednesday and remains jailed.
The Florida Times-Union reports that she told investigators she was angered because the boy was crying while she was playing the game FarmVille.
The paper also reports that she told investigators she shook the boy, smoked a cigarette to compose herself and then shook him again.
She will be sentenced in December. State guidelines call for 25 to 50 years, but a prosecutor said it could be shorter than that.
A telephone message and an email sent by The Associated Press to her attorney weren't immediately returned.

Unbelievable. Here's another situation where this type of crime calls for the death sentence. Period.

I think you guys are missing the point.
No way Farmville caused this, clearly the woman was already deeply psychologically disturbed. To get upset about facebook over it is like when someone listens to a GNR track then robs a bank and everyone wants to lock up all gnr fans.
I think it's real sad. That baby should have been able to trust its mother. And she was clearly in some sort of bad state herself.

The difference is GN'R are expressing themselves artistically and live on that level.
Facebook doesn't. It's just a pit for spam, ads, and narcissism.
It's actual foundation ATTRACTS pre-existing psychos to have an outlet. It's not the cause, it's a conduit.
Friendships, families, marriages, brothers, sisters, in-laws, children, gays, minorities, death, influenced suicide ON KIDS... how many lives have to be lost, destroyed, thrown into peril?
Or are we gonna just keep doing the diffusion of responsibility, "well I use it for good, so there's no problem at all with anything with it", "not my problem", "it's the individual"...

I'm sorry if I seem real opinionated on it, but it just bothers the hell out of me the association with this stuff and FB. This kid never gets to even be a kid, and every other week you're seeing a news story about some teenager who killed themselves, or nearly killed themselves, because they're cyber-bullied on the thing from some punk ass cock sucker on the other side, and you find out the bitch pressin' the 15-year old kid to kill herself, is a 40-year old mother... it's just bullshit.
None of it would have an outlet if that damn thing wasn't even there. That's all i'm sayin'.

^it's an interesting opinion...but I'm not sure I agree.
Firstly, I don't think you can discount the harmless users which outrank the psychos by the thousands. Your argument to me is akin to calling for the telephone to be banned because some people make harassing calls.
Secondly, I'm not sure it's right to associate the behaviour with the product anyway. Take metal music. It's agressive, it's 'negative' at times, a good percentage of it's fans are fucked up people. Hell, Axl's a bit crazy and I think i respond to his lyrics because I am too. But that's not a reason to be down on metal. I'm not nuts because I listen to GNR, i listen to GNR because I'm nuts. So if facebook is attracting wackos that doesn't really make it the fault of facebook, just means it shows you where the wackos are.
What i'm getting at is, this is a horrible thing, but if that woman wasn't playing farmvillve, she would have killed her kid for inturupting the TV news, or her game of solitar, or her knitting or whatever, she's obviously a nut job.
