I think if Axl has been forcing financially tight, little known musicians to sign gagging orders as part of joining GNR then treating them like shit and not paying them for their hard work then he deserves this shit to leak and to be judged by his peers.

Do you think any of those people joined GNR because they thought they'd be the one to lead the band or make all the money? They knew it was Axl's band when they signed up. No one forced them to join and no one forces them to stay.
The sole reason they are there is because GNR is a known band and they can get attention for themselves and their otherwise unknown careers. Bumblefoot can sell an album 30x better than he could without them.
Axl cannot refuse to pay them or they'd be in court. I don't any of these people, no matter how much they need to band to be relevant, would work for free. It's against the law.

no, they probably joined to get paid for playing gigs, like all pro musicians.

The rumor that Axl is behind on paying the band has cropped up in Velvet Rope forum discussions for months now.
if you are making $50K a year and then Uncle Ax comes along and promises to take you out on $10K a week you would continue to hang in hoping for that pay day to come, especially if you have a contract and yes the exposure doesn't hurt either.
Ax has been sued for non-payment of bills in several cases now from Duff & Slash over royalties to a gallery over some awful sculpture to most recentky a Bentley dealer.
Who knows...maybe thesee files will be leaked and we can know for sure.

Much of them seem to be about the dealings and dirt of the current band, which begs the question... if legit, who did this and why?
Until proven otherwise, I'll go with the most entertaining option. Azoff recruited a hacker to do this so he could fuck Axl over.

If these are from his laptop I'm surprised there's nothing personal (non band related) you'd have thought there'd have been something about his personal life, car enquiries, porn or something!

Doesn't matter if it was from Beta's. In fact, that makes it more odd. I'd think if someone were to hack into Beta's email right now, they'd find letters to family, bills, spam, etc like you'd find on anyone's. Not 3-7 year old emails containing Axl's thoughts on everything we ever wanted to know and stuff that could destroy the band. It's like a bad fan fiction story.
