A man’s wallet was found 40 years after he lost it. 
Back in 1970, Rudolph Resta worked as an art director in the promotion department of The New York Times. One otherwise ordinary day, he went to fetch his wallet from his coat in an unattended closet and found that it had been stolen! Four decades hence, his wallet has been replaced and the incident was all but a distant memory...that is, until he met José Cisneros.
Cisneros is a security guard who works in the former Times headquarters, now called the Times building. He found Resta’s old billfold last fall, discarded inside an old unused window frame! A few months later, Cisneros was able to track down its former owner thanks to ID cards that remained inside the wallet. Nothing had been taken from the wallet other than cash - Resta recovered 40-year-old pictures of his wife and kids, a photograph of his deceased father, and an American Express card from their colors used to be purple and white!
Of course, this was 40 years ago, before they invented wallets with bluetooth alarms that let you know when you lose them.

It took 10 years for the Secret Service to track down a counterfeiter of 1 dollar bills. 
Oddly enough, this counterfeiter’s saving grace was that he only counterfeited one dollar bills, and did so at such a slow rate that he was able to stay under the radar. Despite the fact that his counterfeit bills were so low-quality that some of them even spelled “Washington” wrong (“Wahsington”), this guy was able to stay out of trouble by only producing 40-50 one dollar bills every month, and avoiding making return visits to the same stores.
The Secret Service was looking for this counterfeiter for 10 years. Ultimately, he was brought down by a bunch of kids who discovered some discarded fake bills near his apartment and were caught using the fake money as toys. As it turns out, the elusive counterfeiter was a 73-year-old retiree who was using the fake bills to make ends meet. He served 4 months in prison for his crimes.
