SLASH Says He's Already Working On Material For Next Solo Album - Mar. 4, 2011
Legendary guitarist Slash (VELVET REVOLVER, GUNS N' ROSES) told Australia's long-running rock station Triple M on Monday (February 28) that he is already working on music for his next solo album, which is tentatively due in 2012.

Although ALTER BRIDGE vocalist Myles Kennedy sang just two tracks on Slash's self-titled solo debut, Slash recently confirmed that Myles will sing everything on the guitarist's next solo effort.

Speaking to Triple M during his appearance at this year's Soundwave festival, Slash said, "I'm touring around with a sort of mobile studio and we're working on material that I'm gonna do with Myles for the next record. And I'm looking at, probably... It'll be early next year." (See video below.)

In a recent interview with The Pulse Of Radio, Kennedy said about the fact that Slash would like him to handle the lead vocals on the guitarist's next CD, "It's very flattering. I think there's kind of a cool thing we got going. We really enjoy working with each other. I know they're auditioning singers now for VELVET REVOLVER, so I don't know if they find the right guy if that'll affect things timing-wise. I'm not really sure. But the plan right now is that yeah, we'll do a record together down the road."

Slash's debut disc came out last year and featured a different singer on each track, including Chris Cornell, Ozzy Osbourne, M. Shadows and others.

ALTER BRIDGE recently completed a tour behind its latest album, "AB III".

He needs to take a break. Slash was 'good', not great, if he rolls another album out within a year or two, it's gonna suck HARD. He also doesn't need to blow his creative load on his solo work with VR looming in the next year or so.

If he does go forward with it, it'll confirm my take that VR is dead and they only teased it as a rainy day opition, but they prefer to just go solo and wait for Axl to call.

Yeah I think that pretty much proves that VR is far from the top priority, which I've always felt since Scott left.  It's there, just in case, but there's obviuosly no rush to get it running again.

VR = dead and bloated. IMO they only talked it up to sell a few copys of that live show. sad

If Slash is touring until the fall and expects to get another album out early next year, then he'll go straight to on that as soon as he stops. I'd think he's tour for that album as well. I can't see VR doing anything at all until at least a year from now. How long is Corey going to wait around?

I love Slash a ton, but that album of his did nothing for me. I'm fine with all his appearances and stuff, but I think he really benefits from a group setting as far as song craft goes.

I'll always follow the whole crew, and check out anything they do, but I'm finally starting to resign myself to the possibility that NONE of them will ever do anything mind blowing again.

Corey isn't waiting around.  He's still doing stuff with Stone Sour and Slipknot as far as I know.  VR is 3rd in line for him at best, and 2nd in line at best for the rest of the guys.  Not by choice for Dave, and to a lesser extent Matt.

I'm a huge fan of that first solo disk. I don't love every song - but there's 6 or so tracks that have grown on me real hard and are now amongst my favourite songs.

Axilin I'm not so sure that a follow up album will suck....it seems to me slash is ontop of his game at the moment, like his live playing has really gone back to top form - and if he's jamming with Myles backstage and stuff it's sort of organiclly happening over the last year or so....if anything it seems like that's a good way for it all to come about to me.

Although you do have to wonder how there could be enough material for a VR and Slash solo stuff. Like Ghost seemed to be based on a VR riff...does make you think slash's contributiobns would go to the solo act and VR might be more duff/dave based which worries me. Then again Duff/Matt/Slash have a killer vibe together.

I think VR obviously has some serious issues behind the scenes. Like inability to agree....and I feel slash is doing all this solo shit cos he can't deal with it...or is scared of doing nothing...much like how when things went south with Axl he busied himself doing snakepit1.

I'd like to see VR revamp but the model of it being the side project of everyone seems hard to do.

Bottom line is something is wrong.

I mean they have myles - who if he has enough time to tour 2 slash albums for years around alterbridge could clearly have had eough time for VR.

Then they have corey - who is a proven frontman in a big band....

and those are just the two people we know that hang around them.

Yet they never choose and start. Sort of makes me wonder if an agreement will ever happen.

That just sounds pathetic. 16
