Check out the size of this thing... This is downtown Birmingham (my town)..  About 2 miles wide, that is unheard of.

Thats insane, must feel like the end of the world when its on top of you.

Best wishes to everyone affected, hope you all got out without a scrape.

The last 10 years or so has been unreal for record breaking weather, especially the last 5 or 6. We are in the middle of a mini heatwave here, it must be one of the driest Aprils we've ever had. Seems like every other season comes along these days and something unusual happens.

I just got power back after a major tornado outbreak yesterday.  There are places near me where the entire town is closed because so much of it was destroyed.  I can't even begin to describe the scene.  I know D lives in the area - has anybody seen him on since yesterday?

D was "last active" on HTGTH yesterday afternoon.  Glad you guys are alright.  Tornadoes don't sound like a good time.  Here in the northeast winter is a bitch, especially THIS winter.  But we don't really have to deal with tornadoes, earthquakes, or hurricanes all that much.

I have family that lives out in southern California and it's absolutely beautiful out there.  But they get earthquakes, mudslides, wild fires.  And everytime one of those occurs, they say they're moving.  Of course, they don't.  You take the good with the bad, I guess.

It does. I went through a Hurricane before, good one too, and when you lose power and roads are blocked and you only gather info from word of mouth, it literally feels like you went back in time 120 years.

Your only source of info is WALKING through rubble to go get a paper. You also become self-reliant on using fire to cook food, and you have to boil water and most of your day is spent working, cleaning up.

Real Little House on the Prairie stuff.

That's true.  It was amazing how little information we could get with no power and cell service being spotty at best.  It felt as though you were isolated from everything.

Glad you and your family are ok. D has not posted here but I saw a recent Facebook update so he's alive or someone else logged into his facebook.

Always hated Facebook but been using it a bit lately since some of my out of state relatives are on there.

Feel free to add me if you want.
