Re: Bin Laden dead
USA USA USA ... what are we proud of?
Our government and more specifically our military for accomplishing what they set out to do ten years ago. We said we were going to dismantle Al Qaeda and kill Bin Laden, and that's what we just did. There's more work to be done, but killing the leader of this group is HUGE, whether or not he was still running things or just a figurehead for the organization.
and in the process ruined the global economy ... and more specifically the US economy....how many years until that clears up? US Housing market is shit...20% vacancies in florida alone....Detroit population has decreased by 25% in the last 10 years...US dollar value continues to remain low....crude oil prices are astronomical...yeah "you got him" but was it worth it?
Maybe Al Qaeda inadvertantly caused more damage than even they figured they could accomplish... and tbh imo it doesnt really matter if Bin Laden is dead or not cuz there will always be another crazy jackass to step up and take hold of the reins

The difference is that Bin Laden was extremely wealthy and likely had a shitload of fundraising connections all over the world. Quite a bit of that money will dry up for his organization now that he's dead.

Don't give bin Laden that much credit. He didn't ruin the economy, nor did the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. We did that to ourselves.
Re: Bin Laden dead
not saying that he did it single-handedly but he certainly knocked the first domino over IMO...
The first domino fell long before the towers did. People think this all crept up overnight. People have been spending money they didn't have for a long, long time. That was the first domino. Bin Laden didn't even scratch the surface as far as being an issue in our economic issues.

its been 10 nearly years since sept 11 dude .... if the govt didnt pour all that $$$ into the war where would USA be today? everythign may not be peaches and cream but i would wager that it wouldve been a sight better than it looks today
Re: Bin Laden dead
and having an obsessive war strategy didnt help certainly ... think about it ... over $1 Trillion to basically hunt down Saddam and Bin Laden and their lackeys ... and how many dead from both sides
1 trillion is a drop in the bucket...and you could make an argument that our greed made us a target. Again, all of this stems from people and the country as a whole living beyond their means and nobody willing to put a stop to it even as bad as things are now.

Our problems started long before 9/11.
