This is heartbreaking. Randy was my favorite wrestler next to HBK. When I was a kid and Hogan beat him at Wrestlemania V I stopped watching WWF for over a year... This is awful.

I blame steroids. No doubt in my mind. When he was in WCW and came out totally buff, bigger than Lex Luger, about the size of HHH, I knew something was going to happen like this sad

Yeah, a friend of mine brought up the steroid possibility as well.  Unfortunately, it's always going to be brought up when these things happen, since steroids ran rampant through the industry.  I hadn't followed, seen, or heard anything about Macho Man since I stopped following the WWF back in the day.  Until today.  Sad indeed.

At least he and The Lovely Elizabeth will be reunited again.

RIP, Randy.

RIP Randy.

I first started watching WWF early in the 1990s (actually late in 1992) and Savage was having his role reduced and forced into a color commentator role.  That being said I enjoyed the heck out of his feud with Crush in 1993 that culminated in a pretty good 2 out of 3 falls match at Wrestlemania 10.

Unlike most wrestlers, he had saved a lot of his money and really didn't need to return to the ring for one last payday or two.  I believe his last wrestling appearance was in 2004 for TNA.

Whenever, I hear "Pomp and Circumstance" I think of it as Savage's theme song and not the graduation song.

That first one is one of my favorite wrestling promos of all time.  Great work by everyone Flair, Hennig (RIP), Heenan and Savage.

I was shocked when I heard about this earlier today. Almost cried actually. When these 80s legends die it feels like a part of me has died as they were a huge part of my life back then.

Savage vs Steamboat at WMIII the greatest match in history although those Flair vs Steamboat matches come pretty fucking close.

There will NEVER be another like him.

RIP

I agree that steroids/drugs were the likely cause. Its why so many of those 80s wrestlers die long before the average life expectancy.

I agree. I'm noticing more and more of these 80's stars are going. And when you grow up with them, they're like your real family or friends. To see them go, you almost feel like your generation is dying off.

It's weird like that.

Totally agree too.

Even though of course I never actually knew him other than from TV, I'm actually really sad to have heard about this loss.
