Re: 2010-2011 NHL Season
Atlanta Thrashers sold to Winnipeg owners. That's good news, I think.
Hope Tampa can pull it out in the East but I would've kept starting RolosoPr
Re: 2010-2011 NHL Season
big time excitement for canada to get another team back but tbh it deosnt mean much to me as WInnipeg is so far away from me...i heard though that it may mean that the thrashers will swing to the west and detroit will move to the eastern conference
now atlanta has lost 2 teams to canada (Atlanta Flames to calgary and Atlanta thrashers to Winnepeg) unfortunately i think it'll just be a matter of time before the winnipeg fans dont give a shit again
funny how the NHL doesnt give a crap about atlanta but will eat huge amount of debt for the Coyotes
not caring who wins the cup...i guess it wil be cool for a canadian team to win again for once
that bite by burrows on marchant was bullshit...i cant beleive that guy didnt get suspended

You don't care? Huh?
I'm a fuckin' Southern American, and even i'm rooting like hell for Vancouver to kick ass.
Re: 2010-2011 NHL Season
I live in CT, so ever since they took the Whalers away from us, I haven't followed hockey in the least, except a few years where I actually was in a fantasy hockey league. That forced me to pay attention to at least the players. So in all other sports I cheer for Boston, New England area teams. But the Bruins were a big rival for the Whale back in the day, even though we could never beat them when it mattered. So it's kind of tough to root for them.
However, when and how the hell did Vancouver get away with stealing the Whalers uniforms/color scheme? I'm not sure if I should root for them for that or be totally against it.
I guess I'll go for the Bruins by default, but I could honestly care less. All I know, from listening to Boston area sports talk radio and TV, is that nobody really gave the B's much of a shot this season (Boston media especially), even heading into the playoffs. Yet, here they stand, playing for the Cup. There's something to be said for that. It would be quite the story coming back from losing that 3-0 series lead and 3-0 lead in game 7 to the Flyers last year to win it all the following season. I'll give them that. They've got some work to do though.
Re: 2010-2011 NHL Season
its the canucks retro colours from the early to late 70's...they didnt go to black orange red until 78..they went back to the white green blue in like 2007 or something
Ah, so it was the Whalers who stole THEIR colors then. I stand corrected.
What a disappointment last night. Another great game, but I was getting all strapped in for some exciting OT playoff hockey and "poof", it's over in 11 seconds. The B's really have their work cut out for them now. Can't get much closer to winning either game, but they're still down 0-2. That has to be a little deflating, especially being a pretty big underdog in the series. The Gah-den should be rockin' for games 3 and 4 though.
A buddy of mine has tickets for game 6, IF it gets that far. Tickets are free, so chances are it won't. Just his luck. He's had tickets to two Red Sox games this year (I had the tickets to one of the games) and both games were rained out. The ONLY home games they've had rained out this year.
Re: 2010-2011 NHL Season
jeez..such a difference from Canada to the USA
tickets n vancouver are starting @ $1500 on stub hub
Tickets are not cheap for the games in Boston, as far as I've heard. My buddy is just getting them through a family/business connection. But the tickets for the games in Boston are still in high demand and not easy to come by, don't get me wrong.
Although, I just checked out stubhub and saw what you're talking about. Tickets are much cheaper for the games in Boston. Maybe it's the exchange rate?
