ok so i came into a bit of extra cash and i was in desperate need of shoes so i decided that i would treat myself and get a pair of Dr. Marten's 8-Holes classic Black (had some back in college and they were the most comfortable pair of footwear that i have ever owned)

My wife tells me i'm too old for that and that i'm not 25 anymore and if i want Doc's i should get 3-hole ones. I remember the 3-holes being a bitch to wear in so I said fuck that and got the boots instead... 16

now tell me ... @ 36yo am i too old to wear 8-Hole Doc's? hmm

I'm only a sprightly 34 so i'm not sure what dudes in your age bracket should wear wink wink

Seriously though, I recon just do it.

But then I've taken to crusing around in cowboy boots of late and I have a ZZtop style beard...so it's possible i'm not stylish....

But i wouldn't let other people define who you are....

Seeing how you're married, you pretty much can wear whatever. People only go hardcore on judgment on single people.

But Dr. Martens... I always thought the bigger boots always had a 'timeless' and classic look to them. I would figure you could wear those until you're 80.

I'm not really sure what you're wife's definition of "too old for boots". Huh? Typically boots are FOR older and more maturing men. I wear cowboy boots, and they have a timeless quality.

The 34 year old sitting here in Chuck Taylors says no you're not too old...  For whatever that's worth.

I am 40 and wear converse. I used to wear 'em when I was 15-18 too.

Docs I wore in my early 20's, just like every guy in their 20's in my area did, lol.

I say wear what you want, who gives a shit.

I'm 36 and still have a pair of 10 hole Doc boots in my wardrobe, although I have had them for about 10+ years.  I still wear converse too - just about to buy another pair.

I still wear the Doc boots occasionally, mainly to concerts or something when I know I am going to get my feet trampled on.  It sounds like my wife is a bit like yours Neemo, she doesn't like my Doc's, although I don't think she feels I'm too old, she just doesn't like them!

Of course the other time I wear my doc boots is when I put my white lycra bike shorts on 16
