Sixx:AM's newest album is enough reason to love the guy.
If DJ really is writing new tunes for GN'R, I'm quite excited by the prospect.
I too, can't wait to hear what he can contribute to GNR in a writing sense.
so i've listened to this album twice now & i think it FUCKEN SUCKS! 
it's actually had the opposite effect on me: i'm much less enthused about DJ's songwriting role in GnR after listening to TIGH.
it's just generic hard-rock. the best thing i could say is some of the songs sound like they belong on a Buffy/Twilight soundtrack. the rest are even worse, sub-bon jovi/80's cock-rock CRAP!
there is absolutely no ambition, inspiration or original ideas. a terribly boring rock album. the best part of was laughing @ how far & beyond CD is from the typical modern hard rock.
& the orchestration.. jeez louise just buckets of cliche driven CRAP. "Are You With Me"? i nearly threw-up it was so gross!
ugh. i'm not gonna be able to forget this one in a hurry.
screw you guys for tricking me into listening to it!

Oh come on. You cannot compare Sixx AM and Grinderman under the same genre they may be both considered "Rock" but they are completely different.
I love Nick Cave, but I'm not let down when Bon Jovi's latest album isn't written in the same way.
How could you EVER have expected a Sixx AM album to sound like this ???

These things are in the same broad category but WORLDS apart.
The best way to analyze it is by whether or not it achieved it's aims.
the aim was to make a better record than their first one with a somewhat sleaze/hard rock feel but dealing with issues arising from the book. Obviously to keep their fanbase happy too.
They did that. Very well. The music sounds great. They achieved exactly what their fan-base would have wanted from them. In fact they surpassed what most would have wanted from them.
