They need to be EXTREMELY careful as they move forward with this technology. Obviously it will take many years(I assume) to maximize its potential, but this will be more dangerous in a country's military arsenal than a million nuclear warheads.
Not only that, but you could probably add a mishap with this technology to the list of "doomsday events".

I loved all Stargates, SG-1, Atlantis and SGU. Atlantis had some truly epic stuff. SG-1 was def. best the last 4 seasons it ran. SGA sort of lost it's way coming into season 3-4. Seas 1-2 was IMO the best Stargate ever produced.
