Re: Norways 9/11
News is that the shooter at the island is a 32 year old Norwegian, of Norwegian heritage. Which opens very interesting questions;
1. Nutcase
2. Extreme right terrorist (they have no track record at all)
3. Afghanistan veteran turned nutcase
4. Norwegian turned Jihadist
Re: Norways 9/11
Well, it's a bit odd if you ask me.
However, this one is turning more and more into a extreme right winged nazi fuck.
Which is something new, nothing like this has ever been done by Nazis before. The Oklahoma bombing, was he a Nazi fuck? That's the closest one I can think of. As time had progressed, it looks like this has little to do with Islam or Jihad, but we can't rule it out yet.
Re: Norways 9/11
McVeigh I believe was Aryan Nations, not Neo-Nazi.
I could be wrong tho, i'll look it up and double-check.
EDIT:
McVeigh, Nichols and other guy were militia supporters, that had ties to the Aryan Nations, that were "gun nut, Constitution defenders" that were disgruntled former military, that were disgusted over the handling of the Waco, Texas & Ruby Ridge incidents. So no Neo-Nazi, white purity bullshit.

So it's not a BIT like it, it's EVERYTHING to do with it.
He's straight from that group of people.
That doesn't mean we shouldn't look out for Islamists. People are so fucking dumb. So this didn't turn out to be Islamists, and people are pretending that's not a problem at all.
Re: Norways 9/11
Before 9/11, the most deadly terror attack the USA had seen was the Oklahoma bombings of 1995. It killed 168 people, injured 450. Timothy McVeigh was a militia movement sympathizer, he sought revenge against the federal government for its handling of the Waco Siege. He also hoped to inspire a recolt against what he considered to be a tyrannical federal government. He had ties to the Aryan Nations, a "gun nut" constitition defender. All in all, a Neo-Nazi white purity bullshit.
Ring a bell?
Compared to the massive attacks of 9/11, the Oklahoma bombings have largely been forgotten in other countries like Norway, as our focus has been (like most other nations) towards radical islam after 9/11. Radical Islam have famous track record of late, as they have been involved in several attacks in Europe. I came to London the day after the terror attacks in 2005. Believe me, I know all about the fear in peoples eyes in London. They were also responsible for the Madrid train bombings and several major attacks in India, Pakistan and the middle east.
So when a bomb blast goes off in the middle of Oslo, it looked like another radical islam attack. When the shooting at Utøya become more clear, most took a step back (including me) as this did not have the imprints of a radical islam attack. They do not let themselves capture. This one did.
9/11 happened (among other reasons) due to the fact no one had the imagination to think in those armageddon terms. Like now, while having our focus on radical islam, it looks like we did not imagine it could come from radical christianity. They simply do not have a track record of the last decade or so to have a focus put on them, and especialy not in Norway. The government knew there were a small group of right winged extremists about, but not once have they been close to performing such big scale attacks. And question is, if this man acted alone, how can anyone ever protect themselves from it?
With the Oklahoma bombings in mind, it is now important not to loose focus on other groups of terrorists, as radical islam is indeed a threat. Just because this wasn't *that*, doesn't mean we can "relax". We simply have another group of ideology we have to pay closer attention to. It got nothing to do with a certain group of people, it got everything to do with ideologies. Map out how many of these extreme right winged christian conservaties really are capable of following in the same path.
And from all these status updates on Facebook lately, it looks like there's almost a "haha, told you so" feeling as left wingers can point to the fact this was not radical islam. It is very odd indeed. An ideology, radical islam or extreme right winged christian fundementalists are all the same; ideologies we need to strike down on. To repeat myself, it got nothing to do with skin, religion or politcal beliefs, but everything to do with people who use these matters to twist them into something else, a weapon of ideology of which they can base their actions on.
When a bomb goes of in Oslo, of course plenty of us have a feeling who's behind it. Radical Islams track record is much better and greater than extreme right winged fundementalists. We have largely forgotten Timothy McVeigh. Now, whenever there is something happening somewhere in the world to these scales of terror, we simply have to re-add a certain groups ideology to the list of possible perputrators.
There is a saying that whatever happens in the USA, will happen here 10 years later. In this matter, it came true. It is our turn now.
Re: Norways 9/11
This is crazy stuff! I woke up here in Norway today with news of 84 young people killed. And they're still searching the waters around the island Utøya.
I'm usually a guy with a lot of thoughts on various events happening in the world. But this makes me just numb all over!
My thoughts go out to my familymembers, freinds and colleagues in Oslo. And offcourse to those directly affected by the incidents!
A truly sad day here in Norway.
