Do you think they might be trying to put themselves in a position to get Andrew Luck next year without outright tanking this season? I think Harbaugh really does believe in Smith and Kapernick and I am now certain that Washington WANTS Grossman as their starting QB.

I'm watching the replay of the Bills/Broncos game, and man that offense looks bad. I'm still not sold on the QB being their problem. After they got rid of Trent Edwards last year, who was supposedly the person holding them back, they went on to lose the next 6 games, winning only four games against bad teams with losing records and low single digit wins themselves. Plus, Edwards is playing really good for the Raiders right now. I just don't see anyone surviving behind that Buffalo O-Line.

Darius is going to be a beast, though.

I have another draft on that Thursday so I might have to change it.

I don't think so misterID but certainly they'll take Andrew Luck if they get the chance. A lot of fans have been talking about how the Bills of the last ten years have averaged about 6-10 without ever dipping bad enough to get a top 5 pick - until last year, and Dareus looks like the best draft pick the Bills have made in the first round in a decade. Some people would prefer to see the team get 1-4 wins rather than 6-8, especially with all of the first round whiffs the organization's had the past decade (Maybin, McKelvin's been disappointing,Whitner, Losman). Gailey's offense is a bit too cute, so with the shortened offseason it looks really bad. Pretty clear the offense hasn't found its timing yePr

Just set it to auto pick anyway.  I know it's not the same but whatever. I'll try to make this draft cause it's a fun time chatting & it's cooler to truly select your guys, but if I miss it I miss it. No big worries.

The past ten years or so the Bills have basically been in NFL puragatory.  They're not awful enough (last year aside) to draft in the top 3 or so to grab a real difference maker yet they aren't good enough to field a team that is contending year in and year out.  They're just kinda of in the middle of the pack every year it seems.

QB Class looks a lot better this year with Landry Jones, Luck, and Matt Barkley of USC.  If the Bills get a top 5 draft pick there is a very good chance that one of the three QB's will be available when they pick.  Of course it seems like they've been needing an OT for the last few years now.

I think the Bengals are ahead of the field in the Andrew Luck derby.  The 49ers and Seahawks are also in there as well.  Washington has already been mentioned.  Miami looks like an 8-8 team or so.  I could also see the Raiders or Panthers making a run at the top pick.

In terms of bad recent 1st round Bills picks, I'd say Aaron Maybin takes the cake here.  He didn't last 3 years there and produced 0 sacks.  That's Vernon Gholston territory.

Re: 2011-2012 NFL Season Thread

Yeah the 49ers are where I think Luck would fit best and eventually become a star, but Cincinatti looks like the worst team in the league by far right now. It's a good time for a bad team to mail it in for a year or two, given the new labor deal's big reduction in rookie salaries. The Rams are in major cap trouble because of Bradford, Smith and Long's huge deals. Now it's going to be a lot more affordable to take on consecutive top 3 picks. Hopefully that'll also induce owners, GMs and coaches to be willing to sit unready players (like Cam Newton). Historically you have to play the guy you're paying - the Bills know that all too well, from Rob Johnson "winning" the QB battle with Doug Flutie by virtue of his paycheck which  and now it looks like CJ Spiller will get starts over the better Fred Jackson, although maybe that's just because CJ was a Nix/Gailey draft pick and Jackson wasn't.

I think you can hand the Patriots the top seed in the AFC right now. Anything can happen in one playoff game, so I'm not crowning any champions, but that team is now stacked in talent to go with their elite QB/coach. They're scary. I think the Chargers will bounce back from last year to contend this year, and the Steelers and Ravens will be involved like always. The Browns are getting better but they'll struggle in that division. The Jets are a big question mark for me, I'm inclined to think they'll take a step back, but if Sanchez progresses a lot from last year he'll more than make up for their aging D and run game which hasn't been the same since Thomas Jones left. But I think this year Houston will be better than them, and finally be able to make the playoffs. The Colts are old, but if Manning's healthy, they still have the talent to compete with the best teams and win that division.

The NFC I don't follow nearly as closely so I don't have many predictions for them. The NFC West is so terrible it's a crapshoot. The Packers and Falcons and Saints will likely all contend, but I'm not sold on the Philadelphia 'dream team', although I don't know how strong Dallas or NYG will be (not implying they won't be strong, just straight up ignorance) so they might win the division without being elite.

As for changing the date and time of the fantasy draft, are there days and times that DON'T work for others.  Buzz said that Mondays and Thursdays aren't good for him, I assume we'd want to take weekends out of the mix as well.  We've got 2 weeks left, so I was thinking one of the next 2 Tuesdays?  Any preferences?

Whoever gets that top pick next year is going to have the golden ticket. I see a good five picks being offered up for it, if not a player... or two.
