Well, my point is (in my opinion) that's all or most chicks. I'm just in an interesting position to get to hear it all without a filter on it. My one friend is my room mate who's engaged to my other room mate, then my old lady is always around too so I'm not perceived as a threat or the enemy. So they speak freely and I have no doubt in my mind that all or most chicks think and talk this way constantly when we're not around.
I've been in a couple situations like that before. The key difference is - do they actually practice what they preach, or are they all talk?
Guys do the exact same thing (I don't). They'll sit around and talk about how they're playing this girl or that girl and fuckin' this chick behind this chick's back, and who's hotter, etc.... and it's all crap. They've got ONE girl, ONE girl they really like, and ONE girl whom they haven't gotten into bed. But they'll never let on. It's all just bs'in trying to sound cool in front of their friends.
From my experience girls do the exact same thing. The only difference is - the ones I have been around, actually commit the acts they talk big about.
Maybe it's rarer than I actually expect, but from my experience it seems rampant, and roles seem to be changing between men & women. Men seems to be sensitive romantics, and women seem to be hot to trot "hole chasers" who don't want to settle down before they get to "be young" (which is code for slutty, or man-whore for men).

There's 2 things to do, Bono.
First, just ask her out and tell her. If she shoots you down and just wants to be friends, don't worry, the friendship won't last, because you're going to be hurt, pissed and friendship isn't going to be there anyway. What do you have to lose? Except more of what you got at the beach. Indifference. It doesn't matter if it was a game or not to make you jealous, or she really just sees you as a friend. Fish or cut bait. If you don't it's going to drive you crazy.
2nd. Cut her off, ignore her.
I'd say go with the first. But I don't know how far you've gone with this girl or how old she is (thats important). If there's been kissing and stuff, tell her. If there's been more than kissing. Shut it down. Ignore her. Better yet, start talking about another girl in front of her.

yeah maybe you are going too slow for her? i dunno if u want to date her then ask her...then let her know that she pissed you off when she did that..or say fuck it and move on
i dunno head games are stupid...i prefer to be as straight forward as possible

Dating is a strange thing alright.
Take the date I went on last week...seemed to go great to me....we had a nice meal at a restaurant, some wine, went for a walk around some parks in the city and stuff. Seemed to be good chemistry, and the conversation was great - I had a real sense that it went well and it seemed like she had fun too.
So i phone her to orgainise another...doesn't take my call...and no reply.
Guess it didn't go as well as I thought 
Plenty of girls out there I guess, but things like that just confuse me.

Tell me about it. Sometimes the girls play head games because they are HEAD CASES.
I've been around many girls who present as low-key, straight-forward, family-oriented women that want to be slammed over a table and have their panties pulled down to their thighs on the first date.
Call me gay... but that's just WEIRD to me, and uncomfortable. No thank you.

Best first date: Coming home after a club (really hate clubs, but whatever) end up at waffle house at 4 in the morning, have first kiss, gets really hot, end up having sex in the car in a Wal Mart parking lot... Look up to see van full of Mexican day laborers watching. Priceless

Without straying off topic, the most crazy old people you will find are conservative religious people. Throw in a light Alzheimer and you would think they have been prostitutes for their entire lives. It's crazy. Don't suppress shit, find a middle path.
I'm happy I'm off the dating-women market. What a fucking joke that was. Not for me. Not for me being 24 and low on sex-hours either. I have a sexy wife with looks to kill for. And I deserve it. We all deserve it.

Interesting posts and not very encouraging 
yeah head games are so stupid. The thing with her and I is we've been on a lot of dates. Day dates, night dates, we've gone out to the club by ourselves and danced kinda dates. Yes we've made out, yes some extra curricular activities have taken place(no sex though as she stated one night when it was getting pretty hot that she wants to wait, fair enough), yes she holds my hand when we're walking. we cuddle on the couch. To me we're dating but I guess a guy's gotta actually say it I suppose. I've met her freaking parents for cryin' out loud BUT in all of this she continues to hold me at bay and do things that make me wonder.
I've taken the approach of not quite ignoring her but pulling back and it seems to be working as she's texting and calling more now and taking the initiative. I've even done the whole talking about other girls thing as well and that seems to grab her attention fairly quickly. I really hate having to play a games like that but it's how it is I guess. I totally dig her and in my opinion it's obvious she's into me but I've been wrong about thisng like this before so.....
