the article is a little too lurid for my taste.. decisions are being made in brussels and of course germany as the main paymaster has a say there, but to speak of "a fourth reich" is typical british tabloid slang.
about the topic itself, i have no firm opinion. i believe, that the EU is a great vision and the only way for europe to persist in a globalized world, but incompetent bureaucrats and overhasty politicians are hindering at the moment. in addition to that countries like greece were able to
get cheap money for way too long and now the bomb is ticking. germany, along with other countries has helped greece out for two or three times already, but instead of working on a consolidation the greeks seem to lay back and enjoy the show. doesn`t sound remarkable to my ears to ask for greece to fulfill the conditions for the help they get..

Patriotism only has a life of a few generations. You think we were always Norway and Germany? Nah, we've been conquered more than a 10 dollar hooker.
The last chancellor called for a US of E not long ago. It'll happen obviously. What started out as a mere trade agreement has now caught the member countries in an intricate web of economic and political submission. Most of the legislation in European nations are already EU directives. Even our country which isn't even a member swallows the german commands as if they were sliced bread.
With this economic crisis they have the perfect excuse to consolidate. Same thing for the US obv. Get ready to welcome Canada and Mexico as equals when it becomes the only viable option to continue the debt system. A 100 trillion in unfounded liabilities has to come from somewhere. So far not a single politician with an ounce of influence has proposed to change any of that. Unless of course more power to banksters is considered change.

I actually mentioned that on this board awhile back, that I think ultimately Mexico & Canada will merge into the U.S. Especially if the economy continues to fail worldwide.
