Hank Williams Jr.’s indelicate foray into the political arena today may have cost the singer his ongoing gig with Monday Night Football. Appearing on Fox & Friends, the heir to country music royalty called President Obama’s golf game with House Speaker John Boehner "one of the biggest political mistakes ever. It’s like Hitler playing golf with [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu." (Watch below.)
Fox co-host Brian Kilmeade asked the kickoff man what he meant when he said, "They’re the enemy."
"Obama! Biden! The Three Stooges!" Williams replied.
"That’s only two," Steve Doocy pointed out.
ESPN released a statement today declaring itself "extremely disappointed" with Williams' comments, noting that they will not run his customary opening theme tonight.
Re: Hank Williams Jr. Compares Obama to Hitler
If he would've said that about Bush
They would've played his opening theme 10 extra times and called him a hero.
Such an incredible fuckin' bias. Obama continues Bush's economic & defense policies, and somehow because he's a Democrat he's "cool".
And this is coming from a man who voted for both Bush & Obama.
I have no bias, and like both men (but do see errors in their leadership)
I just can't stand the fuckin' media when it comes to this.
As for Hank, he doesn't care. He's always been an outlaw (whether literally or in his head), and something like this won't phase him, and will only give him more street cred in his circles 10-fold.

Re: Hank Williams Jr. Compares Obama to Hitler
He was discussing how opposite their views, he wasn't calling Obama Hitler... Still, a poor choice of words.
Re: Hank Williams Jr. Compares Obama to Hitler
Yeah I agree. I don't like the comparisons that U.S. presidents have to Hitler.
It's fuckin' wrong, and totally inaccurate. Bush or Obama, I can't stand it.
BUT... the man is entitled to his opinion. No matter how short-sighted it is.
Re: Hank Williams Jr. Compares Obama to Hitler
He's supposedly running for senate so it does matter.
I don't really care about anyones political persuasion at all. But what gets me about Junior is that his explanation was that he made the comparison because of the job situation in this country. For one, that makes his reasoning even more stupid. 2 - The guy has been a spoiled little brat since he was born in his daddy's mansion and raised by his mamma's servants, and has never worked a day in his life, but pretends to be a "working man's" man. He proclaims to be a Christian, southern conservative but still smokes dope and drinks like a fish. Not to mention all the tail he chases. That makes him a hypocrite.
And when anyone compares any president to Hitler you've made your argument totally irrelevant.
Junior ain't no Merle 'mother fuckin real deal' Haggard. He's just a pretender.
And I used to buy into the liberal media bias shit, but now, looking at the big picture of things; when you own all the corporations, are able to make the entire government do what you want by owning nearly all the politicians, like conservatives do, and you have your own media outlets, newspapers, channels, cable providors like comcast that do throw their political wait around on the networks, rule talk radio and your own 24 hour news channel, along with Wall Street and the gas and oil industries... Spare me your persecution complex. No one is missing your bias reporting, either.
The fact they try to make liberals into America's boogey men is laughable. They're toothless vampires that eat their own and only know how to lose elections and majority control of congress. Liberals are pitiful, arrogant, and a very small minority who really have no power.
And ESPN would have done the same thing if he compared Bush to Hitler. No doubt in my mind. They made Rush friggin Limbaugh a telecaster once. Dixie Chicks got a much rawer deal than Hank is getting.

He is a fucking redneck and an Alabama fan. As an Auburn fan, that is enough for me to hate him right there, but damn, he has some awesome songs.
Re: Hank Williams Jr. Compares Obama to Hitler
to me it doesn't matter what he says, I am a lifelong fan of Hank Williams, Jr. and that's not gonna change, if people don't like what he says then just don't pay attention to it, I don't care about politics anyway, doesn't matter who the president is anyway, they're all the same.

Williams Jr. apologizes for comparing Obama to Hitler
by Chris Chase / Shutdown Corner-Yahoo! Sports Blog
Hank Williams Jr. apologized Tuesday for comparing President Barack Obama to Adolf Hitler during an appearance on Fox News Channel. In a note posted on his official website, Williams thanked his supporters and explained that he let his enthusiasm for politics get the best of him when he made the remark:
"I have always been very passionate about Politics and Sports and this time it got the Best or Worst of me. The thought of the Leaders of both Parties Jukin and High Fiven on a Golf course, while so many Families are Struggling to get by simply made me Boil over and make a Dumb statement and I am very Sorry if it Offended anyone. I would like to Thank all my supporters. This was Not written by some Publicist."
As far as apologies go, it's better than a non-apology apology but not as good as a full mea culpa. Williams includes that classic unrepentant qualifier "if it offended anyone," which tends to serve as code for, "I don't really think I should be apologizing, but I'm not so stubborn that I don't realize one is needed."
Williams' intro to "Monday Night Football" was pulled from ESPN following the comments. The network has not said whether Williams' trademark "Are you ready for some football?" will kick-off next week's broadcast.
Also, Hank, I'm pretty sure adding that the statement was "Not written by some Publicist" was unnecessary. The use of "Jukin and High Fiven," "Boil over," and oddly placed capitalized words were a pretty good indicator it wasn't.
Re: Hank Williams Jr. Compares Obama to Hitler
He's no longer on ESPN.
Now, pathetically, he's claiming he quit. Must be that giant ego is pretty fragile.
He sites freedom of speech as to why he "quit." You can make fun of someones dead child at your job. It's protected under the first amendment. But it still makes you a piece of shit. And you'll still be fired for it.
