This is not your father's NFL. These days if you don't throw for 300 yards, something is wrong. Plus he's 0-2 in those games. He's been better than most expected, but let's not crown him king quite yet.

Agree with Buzz. I too am extremely impressed with Cam Newton so far. How can you not be? BUT, the NFL is such a passing league these days. And this season in particular the defenses are so far behind the offenses, it's even MORE of a passing league.
Still impressive, no doubt. But it's hard to compare to rookie QB's of the past. Certainly off to a great start though. At least, HE is, not the Panthers. They'll go 5-11 this year and they'll still be going in the right direction though. It won't take much. Cam looks like he'll be able to rejuvenate the franchise, at least in terms of fan interest. They'll have to start winning eventually though.

Guys, he had no OTA's, etc... A very short training camp. Most "experts" said he would never be a "true" pro QB, etc. This is his 3rd game this week.
I agree about it being a passing league. Ever since 2004 when they got rid of down field contact it became that way. Had that rule never come in, Dan Marino still has all his records. It wasn't until that rule that Manning and Farve started creeping up on his stats. Had Marino played now, he would throw for 6,000+ per season. He through for 5,000+ in 1984 or so, he is the greatest pure passer I have ever seen.
Cam has a fucking cannon of an arm and can straight up run over your ass. Once the Panthers get a running game, they will be a legit team. Until then, welcome to the Cam show. The guy has the drive many pros don't, he just wants to win and be the very best, just like he did at Auburn last year.

Because the NCAA is such a reliable organization. There's no doubt he (or his dad) took money. None. If it was his dad, there's no way he knew nothing about it. None. Dude took a pay cut to come to the NFL with the new rookie salary cap. If he'd stayed where the big bucks were at (college), the NCAA couldn't have let it slide.

Don't be a hater. They did 80 interviews, turned over ALL THEIR financials, and still nothing. You should no better than to believe the hate coming from the alabama fans that kept this story in the media where there was nothing to it. It was Mississippi St. that offered Money to Cecil. He didn't ask for it, was offered. He wasn't "shoppped", one school offered him money, how does that mean AU beat that offer,. You would have to pay me to go to Miss. St. too. Auburn had the talent around him to build a championship team. Miss. St. did not. Auburn is close to Cecil's home, Miss. St. was not. Do you really think the NCAA would let AU off if they knew he took the money? Really? Buzz, you sound delusional like the Axl nutswingers. The facts are out, a lot of smoke (due to jealous Alabama fans) with no fire. Nobody brought this up until Auburn was totally kicking ass, why do you think that is? They had to derail the train, and it didn't work. Everyone just needs to accept it now. There was no proof like there was for Miami, North Carolina, and Ohio St. You can't just make up rumors and expect that to work. Suck it haters.
