Anything advanced enough to hop between stars (or galaxies) I'd suppose is also advanced enough to remain hidden, if they want to. Think of our satellites in regards to tribal societies only more advanced.
So we must skip evolution as a reason for why no one can be detected? We didn't go from drawing in caves to tweeting on Blackberries. Let's say we reach that moment of singularity in 100 years. Not only would an alien race detect this, they would see things that had happened before in our race towards that moment. IF there is an alien race within a couple hundred light years from Earth that has our exact level of technology, they know we are here simply from analyzing our atmosphere the way we do when looking for planets. So they have found us but we haven't found them?
Like I mentioned in that other thread, where are the Dyson spheres? It's a logical progression for a race that needs energy to survive. Eventually we will have one around the Sun. In our lifetime? Maybe not but it will occur. The universe has been around for 13-15 billion years and we cant even find ONE. The first one we find will be the one we create.
If you cant harness the energy of your home star, you're not leaving your own star system.
Having said all this, one object that needs a VERY close look are pulsars. The logical explanation for these was always a bit fishy(same with black holes) and if we're gonna detect something highly advanced, we need to be looking at anomalies in the cosmos. It's possible pulsars are evidence of a singularity. Unlikely but possible.
While I don't think there are alien races coming here as tourists, I'm open to the possibility of their existence out there but need real evidence to convince me.

I believe there is life on other planets and I believe in UFOs. I think it's a fascinating subject. The most frustrating thing about it is all the d-bags who create fake videos etc.
I think it's fascinating as well. Always been a huge astronomy buff. I used to think the earth was drowning in aliens/UFOs but as I got older and started to look at it from a different perspective(highly advanced/classified military aircraft, Hubble and other probes/telescopes detecting NOTHING,etc.) my opinion on the subject changed.
If there's life somewhere, it's bacteria and things of that type. Maybe there's some dinosaurs somewhere. A lot of people don't realize how much it took for life to evolve to this point. It took accidents, several mass extinctions, a stable star with a third planet in a perfect orbit with a huge gas giant to keep it stable, list goes on and on.
If you move the earth a few miles backwards or forwards we don't exist. That's how thin the thread of life is.

Only evidence there is evidence of classified military air craft and we've had evidence of that for decades.

Completely sober me and a friend saw what could have been a "ufo" near an old radio station. Metallica object high in the sky went back and fourth between radio towers before speeding off. No bullshit. We both saw it.
Not saying it was an alien cruising through jersey, Maybe it could have been or something like an optical illusion caused by some sort of bullshit that I don't understand. Or a technology test for the government. I am open to a lot of things about this subject. Always have been. Something is out in the skies. There are way too many reports filed of multiple random people across miles reporting the same account after a mass sighting. Videos proven to be real by the highest standards and then multiple footage of the same account by different witnesses. There are a lot of unexplained mysteries of the word past and present and usually they all have something to do with the sky.
Maybe what we think of another advanced life form is totally wrong? If they are coming from somewhere other than earth then it has to be a planet or maybe a different dimension or plane or time. There are so many theories that have yet to really connect the same way as little green men from another planet. I don't think it's possible for man to understand space outside our solar system yet.

But with all those planets and stars in the universe wouldn't you think this sort of thing could have happened else where? Maybe not the same way life as we know it came to be but happened and faster. 1 out of and endless amount is pretty unlikely.

I do believe there is life of some form out there. Where it gets iffy is when we think it's at our level and IF UFOs are real, they are actually more advanced than we are.
Yeah one advanced life form spanning the entire universe seems unlikely. Take into account the early universe couldn't have supported life. If the window for life is only the past few billion years and of course the future, it doesn't seem as unlikely. Also in my opinion if these UFOs are real, they are very close and its not a situation where they traveled thousands or millions of light years to get here.

Your opinion is confined to our ability to rationalize the universe as we understand it right now. Imagine another life form(s) with a 100 million year head start on us; it surely makes me rethink everything.
Something that highly advanced would obviously be hard to comprehend, but what it was 100 million years earlier could be detected. Radio signals from almost 100 years ago are flying out across the cosmos for anyone to find. We cant take those signals back.
A civilization popping up anywhere is eventually gonna develop radio or something equivalent to it.

And I still think you should come up with a reasonable theory for how the US were able to develop flying saucers at the same time they were sinking billions into the Manhattan project.
