Re: 2011 MLB World Series
They have been some pretty exciting and close games, except for the blowout in game 3. Then again, you got to see the Albert Pujols show, which was some event.
Obviously Rangers have the edge right now, having to win just one more game even though they have to do it in St. Louis. Colby Lewis hasn't been that great this year though, so I could see the Cards winning and taking it to a game 7. And in game 7's, ANYTHING can happen.
By the way, did you see this? Amazing, Marty McFly type stuff here if you ask me. I mean seriously, no one has THAT much faith in their team!
The Man Who Bet The Cardinals At 999/1 When They Were Out Of The Race Is Looking Smart And Rich Right Now
Vegas loves long shots. When statistics and history scream against the possibility of a miracle, Vegas can always count on the dreamers and the fools to put down cash in the hope of a once-in-a-lifetime payout. It's free money for the house, 999 times out of 1,000.
Not 1,000 times out of 1,000 though. That's why there are dreamers and fools.
At 8:16 PDT on September 12th, the Cardinals had lost 6-5 in Pittsburgh, and the Braves were in the 12th inning of their game against Florida—a game they would lose, but hadn't yet at the moment a man walked up to a sports book teller at the MGM Grand. St. Louis was five games back of the wild card with 15 games yet to play, and at least one oddsmaker decided the Cardinals' chances of winning a World Series were a thousand to one against.
One unidentified St. Louisan put down $250 on the Cardinals making the World Series at 500/1, and another $250 on them winning the whole thing at 999/1. An unlikely late September run, an unlikelier Braves collapse, upsets of the hyped Phillies and Brewers, and he's $125,000 richer. If the Cards can win three games before they lose four, he'll pocket another $250,000. It wouldn't make him any less of a dreamer or a fool, but luckier and wealthier for it.
Re: 2011 MLB World Series
Yeah, some sloppy baseball being played, especially by the Cardinals. Is it just me or is Matt Holliday the most unclutch player in the history of baseball. The guy puts up great stats in the regular season but he dropped the routine fly ball to seal their fate in the playoffs a few years back. Then tonight he drops another can of corn that led to an unearned run, THEN he gets picked off of 3rd base with one out when the Cards are trying to mount a comeback. Inexcusable!
Re: 2011 MLB World Series
David Freese has become an instant legend in St. Louis (for the right reasons Axl)
bot 11th, walk off HR by Freese, who's 2RBI hit to RF in the bot of the 9th saved the game for the Cards.
Freese is also a local
WOW! What a story. This game when from loaded with errors to a classic WS ballgame.

Canada... but rarely if ever
Canada stole it from you guys in 1991 and 1992 and would've stole it again in 1993 had they not had the lockout. MLB seriously said to themselve "hold the fuck on here we can't have Canada winning the world series anymore." So they derailed our momentum locked out and cancelled the remainder fo the 1993 season. Then they moved one of the two Canadian teams to the US so now we are left with only one and they stuck them in the same division as the Yankees and Red Sox so it's impossible to even make the playoffs. Canada was just getting way too good so they fucked us over
