Most important game in 10 years coming up this Saturday for the Lions.

They passed the test and are in the playoffs for the first time since 1999.  Personally speaking, I'd like to see a rematch between the 49ers and Lions in the wild card round.  Looks like the NFC East Winner is locked into the #4 seed.

Bad day for the Vikings today.  They win and knock themselves out of the Luck sweepstakes.  And Adrian Peterson tears up his knee.  He probably won't be ready or 100% for the most of 2012.

As a hardcore Viks fan, I see little reason to have been playing Peterson as much as they did against the redskins. 1) winning the final 2 games means nothing for them except for experience for Christian Ponder 2) they were able to join the race for the #1 draft pick which could give them way more than the #3 pick 3) Gerhart had played 3 very good weeks prior to the Viks-skins game, he should be getting most of the carries, not AP. Also, as a hardcore fantasy football owner, I understand that you want AP to be playing these final games, but the fact of the matter is that the Minnesota Vikings are playing in the NFL, not fantasy football, and when it comes down to it, u gotta be protecting your star players in the final games of a meaningless season, these final  games are so meaningless for the Vikings, that they should have been trying to lose in order to potentially get a #1 pick, which would pay dividends In the long run

Yeah, but if you're healthy enough to play, you play.  At least that's what I believe.  You don't just sit your stars because you figuratively have nothing to play for.  Obviously, hindsight is 20/20, but you can't PLAN on guys getting injured.  I know it sucks, but it's part of the game.

Trust me, I'm a Patriots fan, and Wes Welker got hurt in the final game of the regular season a few years back when they could have been resting their starters in preparation for the playoffs.  So I know all about players getting hurt in meaningless games.  But you just can't play in fear.  Injuries can occur anytime in football, and the Welker injury was a non contact injury too, so that could've easily happened in practice.

As great as AP is too, RB's are a dime a dozen these days.  Having an All Pro RB doesn't guarantee you anything.  It's a passing league, and RB's are just complimentary at this point.  You NEED a QB, without that you don't have much of a shot.  We'll see how the Niners do in the playoffs.  They will try their best to debunk that theory.
