The only difference I hear is that his has a melody.
I don't know, maybe it's because he's a copycat versus the original, I don't know. There was something charming about the original. His comes across as trying too hard. There's an obvious big effort going on by I assume the parents (or someone else) to basically make his slick.
In other words... the girl = Pearl Jam. The boy = Creed.

We should probably stop now before we start fighting over who's a better metal singer, an 8 year old girl or a 6 year old boy. Obviously the parents were going for something here. They had a bit of an advantage, playing off the original. That's why I think it's better. I thought the girl was basically just screaming over some music. The boy's song at least had some sort of structure and point to it. In both cases, it was all in fun, so mission accomplished.
