Re: Snoop Dogg and Slash jam at LA charity event

Snoop Dogg performed with Guns N Roses legend Slash last night (February 7) at a charity event held in Los Angeles.

Proceeds from the annual concert benefited the Black Eyed Peas' Peapod Foundation, which helps underprivileged children and introduces them to new music technology.

Also performing last night were hosts Black Eyed Peas.

Frontwoman Fergie was joined by Slash during her solo set, reports the Associated Press, and Ludacris pitched in during her hit song 'Glamorous'.

Later in the evening, Slash and Snoop Dogg jammed together and received a standing ovation from the audience.

"My kids love Slash, they be playing 'Guitar Hero'," Snoop said.

Don't know if you had seen this pic before - I found it over at mygnr.

I must say Slash is certainly getting himself out and about these days.  At times I wonder whether he will damage his brand slightly and lose some of his mystique if he is not more discerning about some of the appearances he chooses to make.

Don't get me wrong I love seeing and hearing him out doing stuff and certainly wouldn't want him to turn into a reclusive hermit like someone else we know, but I still think he needs to be careful what his iconic image is associated with.

I see your point Aussie but what else is Slash to do? His current band is on haitus and his old band is gone.. The man likes to play, the crowd love to listen so alls well that ends well.

But I do agree that some of the things he's showed up for are a little lame. Still if I was getting large lump sums to hang out with Bill gates for a few hours..what the fuck..I'd be there!

I can understand that Slash just loves playing (he has always said so as well) so he pretty much takes any opportunity that he can to do so.  I'm also sure the $$'s for some of the things are probably pretty good too.  I also wonder whether he is pushed into some of the things for the $$'s by Perla (although I have no absolute proof of that, just heresay and comments from people on this matter).

The Bill Gates thing I can forgive him for because for all we know it may have been part of his promotion obligations from Guitar Hero.  On the subject of GH, I think it's great that he did that and I am sure he helped them make a lot more $$'s from it as a result of his involvement as well.  Afterall he is one of the last great guitar hereos himself, so if he wasn't involved it would have been a shame!

I just look at things like this Fergie appearance or the Ellen Degenerate apperance and think is this really the best sort of publicity for him?

I suppose with VR probably finished, we can expect even more ad hoc appearances by Slash since there is not a lot of other outlets (except for his solo album) for his creativity left.
