I think they are doing it for the fans. Slash even said he didn't want to do it but his wife told him it was the right thing to do for the fans. Duff has said over and over that he doesn't give a shit about the Hall of Fame, but he has had a lot of fans write to him about it and realized the fans care about it in a big way.
Shocker.
They should take a look at this thread. See how happy they made their fans.

Slash, Duff, Steven and Matt wanted to be there. Why shouldn't they perform? It's their night, their legacy that's being celebrated.
No matter what I feel about it, or anyone else, this is a different thing for the artist.

I agree. Axl was a grandstanding pussy. Izzy did it the right way.
Drop a few lines to say thanks, and take off into the sunset again. THE MAN. He still shouldn't went and fuck him, but he was better than Axl about it.
