Re: History, a fraud?
Russian mathematician Anatoly Fomenko has for the last 30 years been working on what he calls "the new chronology". As a mathematician he discovered statistical anomalies in the modern chronology of history and finding that astronomical eclipses did not match with what we're being told.
The story is a lot more complex than that and if you want to read his books 2 of them are available for free on Google.
I found this comparison between roman rulers to be particularly interesting:
Lucius Sulla (83BC-78BC) 5 years - Lucius Aurelianus 5 years (270AD-275AD)
1 year strife - 1 year strife
Sertorius 6 years - Probus 6 years
1 year strife - 2 year strife
Pompeius 21 years - Diocletianus 21 years
Pompey and Ceasar joint rule 11 years - Diocletianus and Constantius joint rule 11 years
4 year strife - 4 year strife
Julius Caesar (defeater of the joint rule) 1 year - Constantius (defeater of the joint rule) 1 year
The second joint rule (triumvirate) 17 years - The second joint rule (tetrarchy) 18 years
Augustus 37 years - Constantinus 31 years
Birth of Jesus Christ 27 years into Augustus' rule - Birth of Saint Basil the Great 27 years into Constantinus' rule
Tiberius 23 years - Constantius II 24 years
Caligula 4 years - Julianus 2 years
1 year strife - 1 year strife
Claudius 13 years - Valentinianus 11 years
Nero 14 years - Valens 14 years
And that's just the Julio Claudians!
