Re: The 10 Worst Marketing Campaigns in History!
I think I always remember Crystal Pepsi more because Right Now by Van Halen was in the commercial.
God I forgot about that! You're right! Wow, that's an old memory that just instantly got brought up in the databank.

Yup I totally remember that.
In hindsight though Bono thinking about it, I do remember it being sweeter than regular Pepsi.
As I kid I kept hoping and asking "when is Coke coming out with Crystal Coke?" (because I liked Coke more)
yeah i think you're right. It did have a sweeter taste to it. As for Crystal Coke that sounds way better than Crystal Pepsi. I always thought it should've been called Pepsiclear
I remember whatever year Crystal Pepsi was released, a bunch of us were in downtown Boston on New Years Eve, and the Pepsi people were just handing out hundreds of free bottles everywhere. And everywhere you went, the ground was covered with mostly full bottles of it.
I would imagine that has more to do with the circumstances though than the actual product. My guess is on NYE not too many people were dieing for a pepsi regardless of the colour. It was free so people took it even though they probably didn't want them . I mean if they did the same promotion on a beach in the summer people would drink them up.
Probably a month ago I was made to feel old as hell when I said something about Clear Pepsi to the guy that sits next to me at work, and he had no idea what I was talking about
Moments like that are cool I think. It's like the young person looks at you as though you're straight out of a Sci-Fi movie or something
Re: The 10 Worst Marketing Campaigns in History!
I personally prefer Pepsi when it's nice and cold. Pepsi in an ice cold can is better than Coke. Coke has a better flavour when it comes in a plastic bottle though and Coke tastes better as a fountain drink.
Coke is easily the more popular of the two. This debate has been going on since I was an infant and to be honest most peopel I know tend to prefer Pepsi. BUT Coke has brand recognition in a way that its almost subliminal. Sure you could have a rum n' pepsi or rye n' Pepsi but nobody ever says that. They say Rum n' Coke or Rye n' Coke, so Coke automatically has a monopoly on alcholoic beverages involving a cola. I think that plays a huge part in it. People want mix for said drinks and it's universal that people say Coke so when going to buy mix rarely do people pick up Pepsi instead. It's automatic to grab coke. Plus Liquor stores don't stalk Pepsi or if they do it's extremely rare. I've never heard of a bar stalking Pepsi to mix their drinks.
Coca-Cola by the way is the #1 brand/company in the world.

I think I read somewhere that even Sammy and Mike thought the song or verses of it would be great for a candy or soda/beer commercial. It is one of my favorite VH songs and one of the best of the Hagar era. I think it would work great for the start of a presentation for a motivational speaker too.
