So I have a link to a torrent, but every time I try to download from it, it tries to download an .exe file.  What am I doing wrong?

I think I figured it out...I'll know for sure shortly.  I guess it's similar to the old peer to peer things.

Torrent files need to be opened in a torrent program like Utorrent etc...the actual torrent file is very small but sets up the connections to the torrent contents itself which is very large usually....not sure why it would be an EXE though...I'd be careful that you have real torrent and it's not some kind of trojen or virus or whatever.

if it's an .exe it's not good as far as i know.

it has to be an extension like .torrent

like monkey said, you need to install a torrent program (i use Utorrent), then you go to a site that hosts the .torrent file and when you download that you choose 'open with - Utorrent' and it should work.

i'm at work for the moment but if you can't figure it out post here and when i get home i can give you more details.

p.s. i don't download illegally 16

I figured it out, thanks.  It kept wanting me to download their software (which I didn't).  I found what I was looking for and I'm all set.
