Re: Curiosity (on Mars) Discussion
And, considering this planet won't last that long, the sun will blow up eventually and we're about to fuck it up anyway, I'd say the only chance of survival is going into space, so we better start now.
i agree w/all of this. tho not quite as much ur surly condescending attitude lol!
but i still don't quite see the value in this particular expedition. at the minute anyway. i just would like a clear expectation of what's the purpose. a general, we've always explored just doesn't cut the mustard w/me. i'd have been the same whenever Tom Crean, Robert Scott & Roald Amundsen were racing to the South Pole. it's like, really?! wtf is the benefit of that?
like i say we do have to go into space. but this just seems a little tentative & unambitious in the grand scheme of things.
i think there prob is life on mars below the surface & on a bacterial level at the very least. there's more forms of life below the surface of the earth than on it is part of the logic behind that. but unless those things are gonna contain any different materials to what we find in our planet, they're not gonna solve anything.
but they don't - they're made of the same stuff we are, as is the rest of the universe for that matter (pardon the pun!).
we're just gonna get more stuff to look at or think 'oh that looks weird'. & that's all well & good & fine. but it's not enough anymore.
if you're gonna do it, do it instead of pussyfooting around w/monkeys & dogs & robots.
(& on an ethical level, i don't think we should be inhabiting another planet before we get this one cleaned up, populationwise & everything we're just gonna go somewhere else and wreck it before having to move on. that's p lame!)

wow.
intelligent life here laughs at you!

I know I'll get flamed for this but I'm not even convinced man has been on the moon. Like seriously they got their shit together in the late 60's got up there, made a few trips and in the last 40 years nobody has been? Fuck that. AND the Russians just concieted and said we take the American's word for it that there's no reason to go. No way.
It blows my mind when you think of how technology has advanced in the last 40 years yet they arn't able to come up witha better method of space travel other than rocket fuel. Please. We didn't even have microwaves when man "landed on the moon" but in 2012 there's no advancement in the field that allows man to make a quick jaunt to the moon and the reason is "oh there's just no reason for us to go? Please. If man can't make the hop, skip and a jump to the moon by now we're never gonna see a man on Mars in our lifetime or the next.
I fully believe there's intelligent life out there and I bet they laugh at us
I've never looked much into the whole conspiracy theory on whether we actually went to the moon or not. But I've always had that nagging question in the back of my mind: "WHY have we never been back??"
Like you said, with all of the advancement since the 60s why wouldn't a jaunt back to the moon be easy as pie now? I would think we'd have a live webcam up there pointing toward Earth or whatever if nothing else.
Straight forward really.
America went to the moon to prevent Russia from claiming the high ground during the cold war.
If china sent a man to mars, even a missile in that general direction. There would be a manned Martian mission within 5 years.
Re: Curiosity (on Mars) Discussion
Straight forward indeed, and we did go. They've taken bloody photos of their tracks, their landing sites, even the flags (one of them has fallen down due to the take off the Apollo spacecraft). Satellites can be such a fun thing.
So we did go, conspiracy theory proved bullshit once and for all..
Unless....the satellite images are Photoshopped............
Re: Curiosity (on Mars) Discussion
Funny how those who believe we did go think the other are just idiots yet isn't it funny there is no real answer to why with all the advancements in technology we can't make it more feasible? Oh yeah yeah there's just no reason to cause we've been there done that.... bullshit. Kinda like how there's really no reason to climb Everest anymore yet people still do it. And the Russians just gave up in their quest to land on the moon? Sure they just took America's word for it and decided "fuck it we don't ever need to go there" . And the Americans did it for the good of mankind and now want to make sure for the saftey of humanity they get dibs on Mars as well? hahahahaha! Ok guys.
Re: Curiosity (on Mars) Discussion
My grandmother used to say...
If God could create us... he could create "them" just as easy.
I've always agreed. Whatever "them" are, we'll find out one day. Personally with the one society is going, I think they look something like this. I saw a couple of them today when my glasses were on, anyone else?

Anthrax Become First Metal Band Played On Mars
by Paul Cashmere on August 18, 2012
Anthrax have become the first metal band to be played on planet Mars.
The Mars probe Curiosity has a wake-up playlist each day and on day 6 the 1990 Anthrax track ‘Got The Time’ was played on the Martian surface.
“Yes, there will be moshing on Mars,” commented Anthrax founder Scott Ian.
Curiosity has also played ‘Echelon’ by 30 Seconds To Mars, The Beatles ‘Good Morning Good Morning’, the Star Wars theme and Wagner’s ‘The Ride Of The Valkyries’.
