Re: Guns N' Roses Live in London (Airing on Vh1 Classic)
it's just false advertising in a way....at least in the vegas shows there is mention of Chinese Democracy.
I am just kind of done with the new band unless they release new music. All the shows I saw were great and I am happy I went.
But, for this, outside of the Izzy songs he played on, I have no interest in this "release".
This is exactly how I feel. It's cool that something offcial like this will come out but I really don't care and I won't be picking this up. I'm just bored with it all. This whole riding the gravy train of old Guns N' Roses to me is so lame. Move the fuck on, become a legit band and release some original material. But no let's just milk the past FOREVER.

When it doesn't take much to see the negative in shit on a normal day in GNRland, I'm not going out of my way to find anything negative in these things and be happy for what they are. Not to be sappy or anything. These are actually good things to me.
Same here. All good things if you ask me. I'm glad to hear that this is worldwide for sure. You have no idea how loud that blu ray is going to be played in my house
Ditto!
Nothing negative about this so far! Sure there is no CD material in this trailer, but this kind of stuff are usually made by those producing and selling the product/show. Chances are good that the actual show will be full of CD material same as the last three years of touring.
Thinking about how Jarmo has been pimping the idea of some kind of re-release bundled with CDII (or whatever it was), these last tidbits of news are looking pretty exciting!

Re: Guns N' Roses Live in London (Airing on Vh1 Classic)
I have two distinct thoughts in my head.
The first is that I'm really looking forward to seeing this show at the cinema or dvd or whatever.
The second is that I find it embarrassing when they talk about the HOF, previous grammies, returning to the ritz, worldwide historical sales....or any of the other achievements that, legalities of the nameing rights aside, were not achieved by the people who play in this band other than Axl.
The thing is that the second problem could be resolved by the band just moving ahead with new projects. Chinese Democracy was a great album, the band plays great, if they could do more of that kind of stuff then they'd have a legacy of their own, and rather than being people mimicking the UYI era....GNR would be an entity with a long history...much like how AC/DC has two successful eras...the Bon era and otherwise.
Not to make this about Slash. But the thing Slash does right is how he's put out 6 albums and stood behind them. Sure he plays a couple of GNR songs in the set - but there's a solid catalogue of his own work and he's always pushing the newest.
Some of us like slash's stuff, some like Axl's, some like both. But I really think the major problem isn't that this band is called GNR, it's that they just haven't done enough new material to seem like more than a tribute show. And I'd love to see that change because they sound great.

I would kiss Beta's ass every day from now on if that happened.
Re: Guns N' Roses Live in London (Airing on Vh1 Classic)
At this point a live Blu-ray would be as much as a victory as a new album to me. I never expected either of the two to ever come to fruition. I'd love a Blu-ray concert on my projector since the UYI ones aren't up to today's standards.
With that said, I'm fully expecting it to be some weird theatrical only release to appease some promoter or something.

I understand that way of thinking, but they have to start somewhere. A live DVD featuring the current lineup playing CD songs, along with the classics, IS a step in the right direction. And I shudder to even say this, but the way things seem to be progressing, maybe NEW music and the whole act of "moving forward" aren't too far behind. I mean, you have to admit. Things have been going at the speed of light lately in comparison to what we're normally accustomed to. At this point, nothing would shock me. And for once, I mean that in a good way.
Not to sound overly optimistic, but it's all good from where I'm sitting.

I don't need no arms around me
And I dont need no drugs to calm me.
I have seen the writing on the wall.
Don't think I need anything at all.
No! Don't think I'll need anything at all.
All in all it was all just bricks in the wall.
All in all you were all just bricks in the wall.
too many bricks in Axl's Wall....Faldor, I hope you are right though.

I can't fault anyone for being pessimistic. Things just feel a little different this time around. They're certainly moving in the right direction and they're finally doing things that normal bands do. All this recent activity can only act as a form of goodwill towards the record company and better the chances of getting new music released. At least, I'd like to believe.
Obviously they still have a ways to go, but they're certainly trending in the right direction.

I find it hugely amusing that after all the castigation of Beta and Team Brazil as "Colonel Tom Parker" types leeching off Axl on the web forums, they've turned out to be the ones who are Getting Things Done.
